NASA said to request $100 million for plan to capture near-Earth asteroid

NASA is taking a plan to send an unmanned spacecraft to capture an asteroid and bring it into orbit around the Moon seriously. Aviation Week reports that NASA's budget request for fiscal 2014 will include $100 million to help fund the asteroid retrieval mission. A feasibility study looking into the project was prepared last April year by the Keck Institute for Space Studies, and it proposed that capturing a 1.1-million pound, 7-meter wide asteroid using an automated spacecraft would cost $2.6 billion.

Double Exposure is something most of us who ever had a film camera experienced at least once. By accident. It happened when the film got stuck, or when we used a used film again by mistake. With the digital age coming in and replacing film, in-camera double exposures became a very rare kind of photography, but in recent years, many DSLRs added the option to create a double exposure in camera, and this old style came back to life. Check out these great examples of Double Exposure found on Flickr.

To create in-camera double exposure, just find the “Multiple Exposure” option under the ‘Camera’ sub-menu, in both Canon and Nikon cameras. Set it to capture 2 images, and take your shots. Very simple with great and creative results. Creating double exposure in post processing is as easy: Basically all you have to do is to add 2 images to 2 different layer, and set the top one to ‘screen’ blending mode.

The new service is called Google Shopping Express.

Google has included nine retailer logos on its Shopping Express site, including Target, Walgreens, Office Depot, and Toys R Us. These are presumably some of the retailers that those who order home delivery can buy stuff from.

Judging by a picture that Google included on the page announcing the service (see above), Google Shopping Express will feature well-dressed, neatly coiffed people driving around in Google delivery vans delivering stuff.

BlackBerry Sold 1 Million BlackBerry 10 Smartphones in Q4

Income in Q4 was $94 million, a solid increase compared to $14 million in income in the previous quarter.

BlackBerry attributes the positive change to the success of BlackBerry 10 — the company shipped 6 million BlackBerry smartphones, 1 million of which were BlackBerry 10 devices.

The following photographs are the official winners of the 2013 Sony World Photography Open Competition. The competition has ten categories: Panoramic, Arts and Culture, People, Low Light, Enhanced, Nature and Wildlife, Travel, Architecture, Split Second, and Smile. The winning images now compete for the Sony World Photography Awards Open Photographer of the Year title, which will be revealed at a gala ceremony on 25th April. This photographer will also receive $5,000. These beautiful images were selected from nearly 55,000 entries by amateur photographers across the globe.

Street Artist Cleverly Turns the Road into His Canvas

With a name like Roadsworth, you could easily guess that this isn't any ordinary street artist. Though born Peter Gibson, he chose the name Roadsworth because, as he states, "Where Wordsworth is a poet of words, Roadsworth is a poet of roads."

Though he started painting on the streets as a form of activism (for more bike paths), his motivation later evolved into a more personal one. It became his alternative form of expression, a creative outlet if you will. Currently his works all have an aspect of protest in them, a way for Roadsworth to comment on today's social issues or, as he says, "simply protest against the mundaneness of the urban landscape."

Photo retouching is a very delicate art when it comes to achieving a good result. Photo retouching, simply put, is the use of image editing to alter or enhance a photograph. It can use anything from simple alterations to complex manipulations and compositions.

The trick with photo retouching is to maintain a balance between the original photograph and the edits. However, the balance depends on what the photograph is for, as a nature photograph for a promotional ad will require a different balance than a high-impact sports photograph.
