5 Most Common Incorporation Questions Answered

While every business is different, most people who are looking to incorporate tend to have very similar concerns about the process. Incorporating entails giving up some control over a business, so these concerns are understandable—obviously, you don’t want to rush into something that can wind up costing you hundreds of dollars only to find that you don’t like running a corporation. Over the course of my career as CEO of MyCorporation, I have helped hundreds of small-business owners incorporate their businesses. Most of these small-business owners come with a laundry list of concerns and questions, but I’ve noticed that five questions tend to come up more than any others. Here are answers to the five most frequently asked questions about the process.

9 Common Misconceptions about Users

Media_httpwwwpaulolys_ufyvb

Many website owners have persistent misconceptions about users, which could lead to a bad interface design and overall user experience. During meetings, when discussing new features or reviewing an existing one, website owners and managers often use their own experience and behavioral habits with a website to praise or shoot down the idea. How many times did you hear someone say: “I wouldn’t use this feature so why are we implementing it” or “I use the application differently and I’m pretty sure the users do the same thing as me”?

Sometimes it’s necessary to remind website owners and managers that we (including me) are not typical users of our own product. It is nearly impossible to look at it objectively because we’re using this product every single day. It’s time to get this and other misconceptions about users out of the world.

5 Common Myths About Marketing Your Consulting Business

Media_httpfreelancesw_wonau

Many freelance consultants have a rather hit-or-miss approach to marketing their services. In truth, quite a few consultants do not learn to market themselves in the early days of their businesses because they are lucky enough to start out with business in hand.

That is, they leave a corporate environment, only to do their first few projects for their former employer. They moonlight until a solid long-term project comes along, so that when they give up their day job, they don’t have to do any selling.

Are You Making This Common Mistake With Your Family When You Work?

Media_http4bpblogspot_clljd

For practical reasons, you have set your work-space to be at your kitchen table (that’s where your laptop is).

Since you work before your family wakes up, you are forced to be located in the kitchen: That’s the only available space to do work during those hours of the day.

Although you get your work done when they are still sleeping, it’s a different story when your family is awake.

Since you still keep your laptop in the kitchen, you are kind of mixing two activities together: Working and socializing with your family at the same time.

Even though you are working, you are still giving the impression that you are available for others, since you work in the same space.

Common Myths That Turn Out To Be False [Infographic]

Media_httpcdnbitrebel_jhphy

I find it interesting that we hear about so many things that are bad for us, and yet we don’t know for sure if what we hear is true or not. Some people say water is good for us, while others say it’s bad. This and that, it’s all both good and bad. So how do we really know? I mean, browsing and researching the Internet could make you go mad. The opinions are as many as there are websites, and as soon as you think you have found a good source, it is shot down by some heavy name-dropping and what that particular person has to say about it. It seems common myths are not just a remnants from the past, and they are made up each and every day. It’s happening even faster now that the Internet can spawn a viral article in about as long as it takes to drink that glass of water in the first place.

Common Misconceptions About Branding

Media_httpi2wpcomwwwc_peoxh

The truth is, that most people don’t understand what a brand is. If you ask most people what a brand is, they’ll say something like “It is the label that I buy.” While this may be so, this isn’t the only way to define branding. Many think that branding is your logo or your signature color. Others think that a brand is the label or the design that a company has chosen and carried out through their marketing. Others think it is the products themselves.

Common Mistakes on a Graphic Designer’s Resume

Media_httpwwwgraphicd_dbttz

Resumes are the first step towards creating a long lasting impression on your prospective employer and by long lasting I certainly mean a good one! Bad impressions don’t stay in the mind of employers for more than a few seconds. Many talented and hardworking designers find their CVs’ rotting in a dustbin. This is common particularly between amateur designers looking for their first job. Even if your work is off the hook and simply astonishing, the chances of you being hired by any firm hit a rock if your resume is not up to the professional standard. However have we ever wondered that why do their resumes get tossed in the bin?

In terms of digital marketing channels, email marketing is one of the oldest. More than a decade counts as a long time in digital marketing, you know.

That means it's had more than its fair share of time to accumulate plenty of misconceptions and myths about how it works. But the times, they are a' changin', guys.

10 Common Money Management Mistakes That You're Probably Making

Last week, I wrote about how our research has shown a steadily growing interest in retirement and other proactive financial planning topics. While this is great news, unfortunately not saving enough for retirement is still the top vulnerability of most employees.
