A commentator on Bloomberg, Princeton student Evan Soltas, writes that Bitcoin is an “existential threat to the modern liberal state,” a line that can be read in two ways. One reading of his op-ed suggests we are all in danger and that the inability to tax and track bitcoins will result in a thriving black market and reduced fiscal control that will be disastrous for all of us. Taken another way – and given Soltas’ biases, I suspect he’s focusing a bit more on the “liberal” part of the title versus the “modern” part – it suggests that the modern nation cannot afford to fritter money away on the welfare of its people because it will no longer be able to tax the rich unfairly, leading to a fiscal nirvana for men and women of a certain breed. Either way, it’s a goofy way to look at what will remain, for the time being, a blip on the economic radar.

Experts Remain Skittish On Bitcoin As Prices Continue To Rise
Some call it the most famous pizza purchase in history: In May 2010, a programmer called Laszlo asked an online forum if anyone would buy him a couple of pies in exchange for 10,000 Bitcoins, an experimental online currency launched in 2009.
"No weird fish topping or anything like that," he wrote.
With each Bitcoin fetching less than a cent at the time, the order was worth about $41. Today, it would be valued at about $1.4 million (1.08 million euros).

A day after Samsung and Visa penned a deal to begin working on wireless payment system payWave, the Canadian smartphone company hopes to quickly roll their service out to their 60 million worldwide BBM customers. With an estimate of 79 million BB users, the mobile money exchange program will hope to influence the one-third or so customers who don’t use BBM service to make the switch.

The Future of Money - Infographic
The planet Earth has seen its share of crises, from natural disasters to full out war. But among the most frightening are the disasters of the financial sort.
Back in 1994, the Tequila Crisis in Mexico brought the peso up from 4 to 7.2 to $1 in just one week, and later in the decade Thailand reached its lowest point of 56 Bahts to $1. So what happens when things like this strike? Exhange rates suffer and the value of local currency goes way down virtually shunting millions of people into poverty in a matter of hours. Even just a few years ago in 2008, Zimbabwe suffered the worst inflation crisis in history. By the end of the year, it took 66 billion Zimbabwe dollars to buy just one US dollar. Things got so bad that the people of Zimbabwe abandoned their currency and now use that of other countries to this day.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, there is a growing concern of WWIII breaking out: over currency. Government superpowers from Germany to Brazil have expressed worry that the world isn’t far from a currency war. Naturally there has been talk of how to possibly avoid that possibility and while it is a simple solution, it isn’t easy.

Raise Money: The $100 Million Funding Secret
I often help entrepreneurs raise money from investors. I'm not a venture capitalist or investment banker, but I have raised millions of dollars for companies I've started, so I know what works.
A few years ago, some technology company founders I was mentoring asked me to come with them to their investor pitch. I helped them get the presentation fine tuned and ready. But we never got to the presentation. Five minutes into the introductions, the lead investor stood up and said: "We don't do technology investments, why are you even here?"
How could this happen, you ask? I did too. But here's the No. 1 rule of working with investors that this company, and so many others, failed to follow: Do your homework.

How To Stay Out Of Debt This Christmas
The average American will spend nearly $800 on Christmas gifts this year, and 30% will spend more than $1,000, according to recent Gallup research. And that’s just on presents. When you consider the extra food, decoration and shipping costs, you could easily spend an entire paycheck–or more–on Yuletide trimmings.
“The holiday spirit can act like Novocaine, desensitizing us to the costs,” says Mary Hunt, personal finance expert and author of Debt-Proof Your Christmas. “We all want to give our family a nice Christmas, but it’s dangerous to go into debt. People are waking up to the fact that it isn’t just spending money that makes us happy at the holidays.”

Pricing strategy from the pros: 3 entrepreneurs share their pricing method
’m sure you know the marketing gimmick by now: the reason most retail stores price items at $99.99 instead of $100 is that it tricks the average consumer’s mind into believing an item is cheaper than it is.
But does this pricing method work for freelancing as well?
Does charging $249 – or $249.99 – instead of $250 bring in more clients?
I contacted three highly-respected, veteran designers to get their input.
