Mercedes updates traffic sign assistance system to stop “wrong-way drivers”

Media_httpimagesgizma_djqar

The traffic sign assistance system currently offered in Mercedes-Benz’s S- and E-Class models uses a camera mounted on the inside of the front windscreen to identify speed restriction signs. This speed restriction information is relayed to the navigation system and displayed in the instrument cluster and in the map view to help prevent drivers exceeding the speed limit. Mercedes has now updated the system to also recognize no-overtaking zones and no-entry signs so as to prevent drivers from accidentally traveling in the wrong direction.

10 Signs You're Ready to Quit Your Day Job

Media_httpwwwinccomup_mkddh

That day job can be a killer. And often, it’s not just that you’re itching to work full time on your start-up. It’s that the day job is making you miserable all on its own.

We often talk about the Peter Principle, which holds that people get promoted to their level of incompetency. But there is another way, and it’s worse. Sometimes, we remain competent but fail in another and worse way. We become lifeless shells of our former selves, persevering in the name of personal growth and development…and hating it all the way.

Here are 10 telltale signs that you are ready to leave your day job. Mind you, these are not 10 signs that you are ready to be an entrepreneur. But they will tell you that your day job, at least, is not working out.

90+ Epic Sign Design

Media_httpwwwandysowa_kghkt

These days we see signs everywhere. Reminds me of that song by Five Man Electrical Band that goes like this “SIGN SIGN EVERYWHERES A SIGN – Blockin’ out the scenery, breakin’ my mind. Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign?” (love that song lol its so old, brings back the memories! I used to hear it on the radio in my dads truck all the time as a kid). However, these days it is a little different as well – some signs serve a critical purpose, while other signs are for fun, but there are still those really idiotic signs out there that you see that just make you think “Really who is this one for?” lol. Today we are going to look at some really clever sign designs, some of them look awesome, most of them are just meant to be hilarious haha. I like to look at the history of said thing a little bit though first, so lets delve.

Awesome Animated Movie Neon Signs

Media_httpwwwtopdesig_qfacp

I love neon signs because they remind me of the good old classic action movies, where there is always a back-alley shady bar with a cocktail neon sign. There is something cool in these signs that beats the newest technology such as LCDs. “Mr. Whaite”, an anonymous legend who scouts the Internet roads in search for boring things that can be converted into something awesome, created a set of posters in an unusual way. To be more exactly, he grabbed the most iconic scene from a movie and converted it into a neon sign. I must admit that this is so cool that I would gladly pay a load of money for some of them. Check them out and also, search for Mr. Whaite on Twitter because you’ll need his protection against boring things.

7 Signs That U.S. Education Decline Is Jeopardizing Its National Security

Media_httpblogsimages_moqnx

According to a new Council on Foreign Relations report on U.S. Education Reform and National Security, declines in U.S. education performance are jeopardizing U.S. national security, including the country’s ability to compete in a high-skill global marketplace. “Educational failure puts the United States’ future economic prosperity, global position, and physical safety at risk,” warns the Task Force, chaired by Joel I. Klein, former head of New York City public schools, and Condoleezza Rice, former U.S. Secretary of State. The country “will not be able to keep pace—much less lead—globally unless it moves to fix the problems it has allowed to fester for too long,” argues the Task Force, which includes thirty-one prominent education experts, national security authorities, and corporate leaders who reached consensus on a set of contentious issues.
