Report: Microsoft Surface Pros Are Showing Up In Stores Ahead of Release Date

Media_httpimggawkeras_qgaeg

You can't buy one just yet, but if you mosey on over to your neighborhood Microsoft store, there's a chance you might be able to put your greasy paws all over a Microsoft Surface Pro, what the Surface should have been from the get-go.

According to reports by Engadget, the new devices are already being displayed as demo units at some stores, ahead of the February 9th launch date, but there's no reliable way to index which stores or what ones it'll be coming to early. It'll be sold at Best Buy and Staples and Microsoft Stores at launch though, so any of those are fair game.

But what about those who are habitually on time? Those who walk in at 9, avoiding trouble by the skin of their teeth?

What benefits could being early possibly give to the 'okay' time keepers?

Behold! The Early-2000s iPad Prototype That Started It All

Media_httptctechcrunc_gjjdk

Prototype 035: it sounds like a nail-biting action RPG but it’s actually one of the first iPad prototypes, built years before the iPhone, and laid by the wayside as Apple kept experimenting with new form factors. The iPad in question, according to a great bit of digging by Yoni Heisler at NetworkWorld, is the one that Jonathan Ive remembers as being the true precursor to the first iPad model.

In December 2011, Samsung deposed Ive in relation to a patent case. The deposition is a goldmine of interesting facts about the growth of the iPad and its slow metamorphosis over the years. He recalled, in the deposition, that he had seen iPad prototypes as early as 2002...

The Early History of LEGO

Media_httpwwwmentalfl_ebgdl

Simple, block-shaped toys have been around for hundreds of years, but it took a 20th-century Danish genius named Ole Kirk Christiansen to invent the interlocking pieces we know today as LEGO bricks. It all started in 1932 in the village of Billund, long before LEGO had achieved world domination as a brand.

A master joiner and carpenter, Christiansen opened a humble woodworking shop with his son Godtfred, just 12 years old at the time. They manufactured stepladders, ironing boards and later expanded to make wooden toys, and in 1934 dubbed their business LEGO, a contraction of the Danish “leg godt” (“play well”).
