Facebook Home Leaks Online — But Don't Download It Yet

Media_httprack3mshcdn_xeaxo

The new Facebook Home launcher app for Android phones has already leaked online four days before launch, but resist the temptation to download it: It's super buggy and isn't worth the headache.

Tech site MoDaCo leaked on Monday a pre-release version of Facebook Home, the social network's launcher software that turns mobile devices into a Facebook-centric device. The beta software works with Google's Nexus 4 smartphone and Nexus 7 tablet, but eager early adopters have experienced some issues with the download.

What Facebook's New Phone Software Will Look Like

Media_httpstatic6busi_srlgc

Facebook is reportedly set to announce new software for Android, Google's mobile software, tomorrow.

Today, @evleaks, an anonymous mobile leaker, posted photos of what it's going to look like at 9to5Google. Facebook's modification of Android appears to make the operating system simpler.

By most accounts, Facebook isn't totally taking over Android. It's just providing a "skin," or its own layer of design atop the operating system. This is widespread with Android. HTC and Samsung each have their own tweaks to Android. HTC has "Sense" and Samsung has "TouchWiz".

PlayStation 4's Blu-ray drive is 3x as fast as PS3's, PSN friends list cap raised, and other tidbits from Sony's GDC panel

Media_httpwwwblogcdnc_grbih

The PlayStation 4's new DualShock 4 controller can be charged even while the PlayStation 4 is turned off. The PlayStation 4's new Eye motion camera has a tilt sensor so it can tell players when its facing the wrong direction or if it's fallen off your TV stand. The PlayStation 4's Blu-ray disc drive is three times as fast as the PlayStation 3's. In case it weren't clear, Sony's PlayStation 4 panel at this week's Game Developers Conference wasn't chock full of major revelations, but it did provide plenty of interesting little details about the PlayStation 4 and its various hardware companions.

Leaked images point to Galaxy S4 mini with 4.3-inch screen and mid-range specs

Media_httpcdn1sbnatio_tvsci

With the Galaxy S4's launch on the horizon, Samsung may be prepping another phone — this one a successor to the Galaxy S III mini. Leaked images posted at SamMobile appear to show a phone with the same design language as the Galaxy S4 but a smaller form factor, just as the original mini was a copy of the Galaxy S III. Its model number is shown as GT-I9190, compared to the S III mini's GT-I8190. SamMobile says the device has a 4.3-inch screen, compared to the 5-inch screen of the Galaxy S4 or the 4-inch screen of the S III mini. 4.3 inches was once enough for Samsung's flagship Galaxy S II, and there's still obviously demand for phones with smaller screens than the S4.

Unannounced Motorola Android phone surfaces, isn't the fabled 'X phone' (video)

Media_httpwwwblogcdnc_shheh

The fine folks at Tinhte have gotten their mitts on a Motorola-made Android phone that hasn't made its official debut. Right out of the gate, the outlet notes that it's not the rumored "X phone" since it's missing a large, stunning screen that would rival other flagship gear, but the specs still give it a fair amount of horsepower. Behind the device's roughly 4-inch 720p screen hide a Snapdragon S4 Pro (or better), an Adreno 320 GPU, 2GB of RAM and a 2,000mAh battery.

Is This Apple's iPad Mini 2?

Media_httpstatic4busi_btdad

A few new leaked images of what could be the casing for Apple's next iPad Mini are being passed around today.

The images show a device with a similar design as the current iPad Mini, but a little thicker, presumably to make room for a larger battery to power a high-resolution Retina display.

We first spotted the photos on Ubergizmo, but the leak comes from a Chinese forum called WeiPhone.

Is this the iWatch patent?

Media_httpphotosapple_nmlwp

AppleInsider has uncovered a patent filing that points to a flexible touchscreen watch design. If you don’t think this is the new rumored iWatch, you’re missing some brain cells.

As we pointed out the other day, there are plenty of rumors and concept designs behind the device, but this is the first time we’ve seen an Apple stamp associated with one. The images may not be as hip or cool, but they may just be real.

Leaked Pictures Of PlayStation 4 Controller Reveal Mysterious Black Bar

Media_httpreadwriteco_jtzfi

It's no surprise that the PlayStation 4, code-named Orbis, is going to debut at Sony's big event on February 20. But until gaming blog Destructoid got its hands on a leaked image of the controller and published it on Thursday there wasn't much concrete information on what any component of the device would look like.

On Friday, All Games Beta offered up its own leaked image, from an unknown source. Whether this new image - which gives viewers a slightly different angle from which to furiously theorize about the new console's possible features - is from same source as Destructoid's is unclear.

But the two are likely of the same version of the prototype, which Kotaku has confirmed is indeed a controller of Sony's new system, though it could change significantly before the final version comes out.

Leaked Screenshots Reportedly Show Samsung's Smartwatch

Media_httpimggawkeras_yehku

Apparently every tech company is coming out with an iWatch/Smartwatch, and these screenshots—leaked from a Korean message board and spotted by SlashGear—supposedly show the time-telling wrist MP3 player Samsung has in store.

The device appears to be called the Samsung Galaxy Altius. That's a little confusing because apparently Altius is a code name that's been associated with the Galaxy S IV. Whatever it's called, it's probably safe to assume that the watch comes with a data plan, and it appears to have an LCD display. It also has a look that's very Android, along with different tiles—one for music, one that's a clock, and another icon for email. On the bottom, a slider bar suggests that the watch will probably have a touchscreen. The screenshots are 500 x 500 pixels each, pointing to a display of the same size, although that's just an assumption.

BlackBerry Z10 Leaks, No Specs Known At This Time

You probably know very well how RIM’s BlackBerries have fallen during the past years, from the clear leaders of the smartphone market to devices that are now struggling to keep up with the Windows Phone 8 “threat” way behind Android and iOS.

You also might know that Research in Motion is preparing a BlackBerry makeover, which will see a totally redesigned OS getting unveiled on January 30 2013. What you certainly didn’t know however is the name and look of the new BlackBerry 10-powered devices.

Well, one such handheld seems to have just been leaked, though it’s hard to tell whether the photo we’re looking at is real, a fake or just a render of one of the early prototypes. If it does prove to be real, it still doesn’t shed a lot of light on what we should expect from BB 10 smartphones, other than this Z10 is supposed to come in both white and black.

Then again, one educated guess is that the Z10 will be some sort of a refresh of the BlackBerry London that never saw daylight. That featured a dual-core 1.5 GHz TI OMAP CPU, 1 GB of RAM, an 8 MP camera and 16 GB of internal memory, so if RIM can take the specs up just a half a notch it might be on its way back to greatness.

This Is Google's New Leaked Smartphone

Media_httpstatic5busi_byium

LG has long been rumored to be one of Google's partners to make a new Nexus smartphone. Now we finally have a photo of what the phone will probably look like.

It was first leaked to AndroidAndMe, and has since made the rounds through the Android fan community. The phone looks a lot like the current Samsung Galaxy Nexus. But LG's phone is said to ship with an update to the latest version of Android called Jelly Bean.

Is this the Blackberry 10?

Media_httpcdntechicom_tcjam

Blackberry news blog N4BB has published what is believed to be the first image of the Blackberry 10 L-Series smartphone. It looks legitimate as there is no handset that matches this look and feel of the screen. If so, it’s both good and bad news for Blackberry fans.

On one hand, it seems to have the simplicity and “to the point” set of apps that traditional Blackberry users will enjoy. On the other hand, it does not have enough oomph to be able to compete with the iPhone or Android. Even those who are looking for an alternative will likely flock to the upcoming Windows 8 phones with their unique UI. It could all be simply placeholders for a more robust UI in the future, but that’s unlikely.

iPhone And iPad Early Prototypes Leak

Media_httpstatic5busi_gvjij

Another batch of early iPhone and iPad prototypes have leaked out as part of Apple and Samsung's legal battle.

The latest photos come from BuzzFeed and The Verge and show Apple considered including a kickstand in the first iPad and eliminating corners on the iPhone.

There's also an iPhone prototype that looks almost like an old iPod Mini.

Check out the gallery below to see the photos.

Here Are Some Leaked Photos Of What Could Be The iPhone 5

Media_httpstatic3busi_ngjgf

A few images of what is supposedly an iPhone 5 have leaked to the site Kit Guru.

Kit Guru claims that the photos were captured in Asia and are the real deal, but as Cult Of Mac points out, it's likely a mockup made by a third-party case manufacturer.

Case manufacturers do their best to guess what new smartphones will look like so they can have cases ready for sale when the device launches. We saw this happen last year when everyone thought the iPhone 4S would have a brand new design. They were wrong.

But this design, which leaked a few months ago, seems to be the one everyone thinks will launch this fall.

Last.fm Reveals That “Some” User Passwords Have Been Leaked

Media_httptctechcrunc_cabgq

It looks like LinkedIn isn’t the only company dealing with password woes as of late.

Just one day after it was reported that 6.5 million LinkedIn user passwords were dumped onto the web, London-based music recommendation network Last.fm has just recently announced on their website that they too are “investigating the leak of some Last.fm user passwords.”

Though the company didn’t disclose how many users were affected by the issue or how the leak occurred, they still asked users to change their passwords just to be safe. At this point, it’s unknown how secure those leaked passwords actually are — LinkedIn caught some flack for storing user passwords as unsalted SHA-1 hashes, a practice they claimed they recently amended.

Is This Google's Nexus Tablet?

Media_httpimggawkeras_cbtje

Though it might look like the original iPhone, this could possibly, maybe, actually be the Nexus Tablet that Google has been working on. Phone Arena received these pictures and believe that the images are leaked shots of Google's upcoming tablet made by ASUS.

It's possible, of course, the Google and ASUS lovechild tablet has long been rumored and we know that Google has been rumored to be working on the Nexus Tablet for Google I/O. But we have to take these pictures of the 7-incher with a 100,000,000 million search engine results-sized boulder of salt.
