Here’s an oldie but goodie about the secret of success in creative work. It was a talk given by Ira Glass which was then turned into an animation by David Shiyang Liu. It’s less than 2-minutes long and has some fantastic advice for creatives. I have witnessed a lot of friends in the industry really struggling with their own work right now and so I thought sharing this would be relevant for all those in the same position. Read after the jump for the entire quote.

But more seriously, it seems like we're all going to have to accept that wearing technology is going to be the real future and not just the imagined future of science fiction movies. We won't know we're in the future until we're wearing technology like Google Glass or Apple's supposed iWatch. PBS Off Book decided to take a look at what that future of wearable technology would look like.

The world of video games is nothing short of creative. Starting back in the early 1980s, when graphics were limited, both developers and players had to use their imaginations to ensure enticing gameplay. And, as games have become more sophisticated, ideas about what games should be have become increasingly complex. Now, you can create just about anything.
With that said, many games have gone the route of completely weird, and even off-the-wall insane.
From their concept to their graphics to their gameplay, there are so many aspects of weird and quirky games that are indescribable. The Story Behind Dove's Mega Viral "Real Beauty Sketches" Campaign
Dove’s “Real Beauty Sketches” campaign has officially gone viral: The YouTube video has over 8.6 million views at the time of this writing and has inspired commentary in tons of outlets, including the New York Times, ABC News, this very site, and in the Huffington Post, where a positive piece about the campaign has been shared almost 40,000 times on Facebook. It has inspired a parody of the original, and now even the blogger backlash to the ad--which complains that it focuses too much on a narrow definition of beauty--has itself gone viral. It’s a real mark of Internet success when even your backlash gets press.
The Future Will Hilariously Remember the Internet As a Terrible Dark Age - Video
How will the future look back at 2013? Will they be in awe of the sheer number of hours we spent on the Internet like we're in awe of the cast of Mad Men drinking and smoking? Will they be in disbelief that many people spent most of their waking hours in front of a computer?...

The Usability of Video Game Design
About a year ago I wrote an article on the Usability of Résumé Design; a concept that, while well-received, garnered specific feedback from a few voices that I found particularly interesting. Summarized, the gist was that “he uses the word ‘usability’, but I don’t think that’s the right term in referring to a résumé”. Usability is a condition of anything we interact with: your faucet, a web site’s navigation, elevator buttons, a mobile app, or a toilet. Tangible or intangible, the most intuitive means of interacting with something to achieve the desired result is what it’s all about. In the case of a résumé, it’s making core information readily available and immediately visually scannable. In the case of, say, a video game, it’s…well, what is it all about? How does usability play a role in gaming?

How to Make a Video Game | No Experience Necessary
Big name developers like Bungie, Irrational Games, and Treyarch have budgets reaching into the millions, as well as a staff of designers and programmers working around the clock to bring the next blockbuster to your doorstep. It’s an incredibly bustling market, one that frequently brings in more revenue than movies, and propels video games into the mainstream consciousness without ever batting an eye. Of course, that’s just one face of the video game industry.
We’ve seen a virtual barrage of indie games for consoles and mobile platforms in recent years, combating the staple franchises and old classics of yesteryear with innovative new concepts and ideas that breathe new life into a slumping industry that ebbs and flows like teenage emotions. Journey, the stunning adventure game for the PlayStation 3 from developer thatgamecompany, recently took home six out of 10 awards at the Game Developers Choice Awards in San Francisco. Other hit titles, like Bastion and Minecraft (which just hit the 10 million sold mark), continue to showcase just how powerful indie gaming has become in recent years.

This Street View Hyperlapse Is The Coolest Thing You Will See This Month
Yes, that is a bold claim, but hear me out. Sometimes something so creative yet so painfully simple comes along and just blows me away. This timelapse/hyperlapse video created using Google Street View is just one of those things. My mouth was agape the entire time I was watching this. Teehan+Lax Labs created this project by recording Google Street View movements all over the world and assembling them into a twisting and turning view of our world from the street.

Watch Google Show Off 4 Glass Apps
During SXSW last month, Google held a session entitled “Building New Experiences With Glass,” where it offered developers information about Glass’ Mirror API, and demonstrated some of the apps that are already in development for Glass, such as Gmail, Path, and Evernote.
On Thursday, Google posted a video from that event on YouTube in full, giving everyone the opportunity to learn a little more about Glass and, more importantly, allowing developers to discover what will go into coding for the high-tech spectacles.
