LEGO artist Nathan Sawaya (aka “Brick Artist”) is proving that there is no limit to what someone can create out of LEGO. His most recent works feature impressive large-scale sculptures built out of LEGO building blocks.
Nathan casually played with LEGO as a child, but only rediscovered the pieces after college as a medium for art. Since then, his New York studio has filled up with over 1.5 million bricks. As you can tell from looking at each piece, he painstakingly pours hours into each creation, transforming what most view as an ordinary toy into a piece of art.

Born in Turin some 56 years ago, Marco Pece is an italian photographer with a fascination with Lego. An art lover himself, his recent work recreates famous paintings in perfect detail, using the ubiquitous bricks. After long hours "playing" with the bricks, the final artwork is a fabulous photograph.
Simple, block-shaped toys have been around for hundreds of years, but it took a 20th-century Danish genius named Ole Kirk Christiansen to invent the interlocking pieces we know today as LEGO bricks. It all started in 1932 in the village of Billund, long before LEGO had achieved world domination as a brand.
A master joiner and carpenter, Christiansen opened a humble woodworking shop with his son Godtfred, just 12 years old at the time. They manufactured stepladders, ironing boards and later expanded to make wooden toys, and in 1934 dubbed their business LEGO, a contraction of the Danish “leg godt” (“play well”).

In our opinion, LEGO is the greatest toy ever made. If you have the skills, you can turn simple LEGO bricks into just about anything you can imagine. As a kid, I used LEGO pieces to make other toys. As an adult, all I want LEGO to do is open beers for me and file my taxes. I've got the first part nailed down, but I'm still working on second.

Well this is just plain pretty. It’s a Lego-made space shuttle launch! YouTube user vinciverse writes, “The launch took place from central Germany and reached a max altitude of 35000m. A 1600g meteo balloon filled with helium was used alongside a GoPro Hero, Spot GPS and of course Lego Space Shuttle model 3367.” (The song is “Welcome Home” by Radical Face) No word on how, when or if it ever came back to Earth but I like to think it just kept going…
