A Collection of Stunningly Detailed App Icons
The retina screens of the newer iPhone and iPad models have led to crisper, clearer and brighter screens filled with more details than before. One of the unexpected benefits of this is that app icons can also reveal more details. While some icons look great with a minimalist feel – incredibly detailed app icons now have more of a chance to shine.
Including intricate detailing within the app icon design can help to add a certain level of realism. Sometimes the designs are unexpected and help the app to stand out against it’s competitors – or at least make the app more memorable.

Amazing nature photography by Magda Wasiczek
"For me photography raises my awareness to the beauty of nature. I’ve learned to see things that are otherwise overlooked, to enjoy the smallest of details, and to revel in the beauty of it all. It became my way of life, my favorite pastime and the cure to all my demons… I do not know who or why, what strength created the world that surrounds us, but I do know that it is an unusual and fascinating world with the smallest details exemplifying pure miracles with every sense of the word. It is not my desire to document or show the world merely the way it is. There are many other photographers who can do that better than I can. instead, I aim to reflect the world through my eyes onto my audience, this idyllic paradise of fairy tales. I hope that looking at my pictures, wakes up the child within each of us, even if for a short time, because the world in the eyes of children is always more colorful , fascinating, mysterious and full of surprises." ~ Magda Wasiczek

It’s Not What You Think, Every Single One of these Objects is Made of Paper
A dusty old chair, a wrinkled pair of jean shorts, or the classic shape of a wooden Eames chair, common items you might encounter every day without giving them a second thought. But try to sit on that worn Corbusier bench or wear that pressed white shirt and you might be shocked as they tear or disintegrate before your very eyes because, amazingly, they are made almost completely with paper by Los Angeles-based artist Vincent Tomczyk. Via his artist statement:
My art centers on objects to stimulate visceral connections. These compositions represent biographies of people, experiences and interpretations of intangible ideas. Although my work can be categorized as realism, my intention is to distill the emotion of an object, then through expression, reconstruct it into my view of its essential self – free of function. [...] As an artist working primarily with paper, my art requires me to be part craftsman and part engineer. I learned a lot about how to construct things by working at my father’s side, in his workshop. I’m compelled to produce work that is visually poetic by using a medium that defies perceived limitations.

Almost a third of The Avengers may have been set in New York, but as this video from Industrial Light & Magic's YouTube channel shows us, hardly any of the filming took place in the Big Apple itself. Since actually filming in New York would have been difficult—what with the many road-blocking restrictions and the city generally looking down on setting their streets and/or citizens on fire—almost everything had to be digitally recreated.
