Report: The iPad 5 Will Launch In October And Look Completely Different

Media_httpstatic1busi_hgysi

iLounge's Jeremy Horwitz reports Apple's fifth-generation iPad will launch in October with a brand new design. Horwitz says he's seen a model of the new iPad, but isn't sure if it's the final version.

Still, the design is very similar to the iPad Mini, so it'll be thinner and lighter with rounded edges and aluminum backing.

Horwitz also claims Apple's next iPhone will look very similar to the current iPhone 5 but have a larger camera flash on the back. Apple will also release a cheaper iPhone made of plastic.

5 Trends In HTML5 In 2012

Media_httpreadwriteco_qaajq

At the end of 2011, the mobile industry believed that HTML5 was on the cusp of ubiquity. Everybody would be using it to build apps and mobile websites and we would finally see real operating systems based on HTML5 start creeping towards acceptance. HTML5 was to become the dominant development stack, taking the mantle from all those native apps that had come to dominate the iOS App Store and Android’s Google Play.

What actually happened is that HTML5 more likely took a step back in developer acceptance in 2012.

5 Tips for Dealing With Holiday Stress

Media_httpwwwinccomup_rcfpc

I have spent the better part of my adult life living Christmas like a 10 year old. A few years ago, however, one event almost destroyed my childish enthusiasm and excitement for Christmas.

I became an entrepreneur.

That's not to say that I necessarily became Ebenezer Scrooge. No, indeed I did not. But the stress of my first holiday season as an entrepreneur was almost enough to ruin my festive view of the holidays forever.

WATCH: The 5 Best Viral Videos of November

Goodbye Thanksgiving, and hello holiday season. As we flip the calendar to December, let’s give thanks for a month that brought us new music by the folks behind Rebecca Black’s “Friday,” the five Harvard students who launched a burger into the great beyond and a convincing explanation for why MTV doesn’t play music videos anymore. These and more are our favorite viral clips of the month.

While you probably don’t need a calendar to tell you that Christmas comes after Thanksgiving, 12-year-old singer Nicole Westbrook thought we, as a society, could use a bit of help. She released “It’s Thanksgiving” earlier this month, her first foray into the world of music. If this bubblegummy ode to turkey and stuffing sounds familiar, it’s because it sprang from the mind of Patrice Wilson, the same impresario who brought us Rebecca Black’s gloriously bad 2011 tune “Friday.” And Westbrook has clearly chosen the seat right behind Rebecca Black’s. While her song didn’t make quite as many waves – or annoy as many YouTube users – it still managed to give us some comedic relief from the holiday craziness.

The 5 Best Ways to Use Social Media to Drive Traffic to Your Website

Media_httpwindmillnet_oajkt

Today competition for traffic is fierce. Every day new bloggers join the flow of information competing to be found. Even if you have the advantage of already enjoying lots of visitors and page views, it is a brave web site owner that assumes that the success of yesterday will be automatically replayed forward into tomorrow. Audiences are smarter, and demand new, exciting insightful information in return for their attention. Since the ultimate goal is to secure their loyalty and custom a single visit can never be enough. To get a real return on your online investment in traffic generation you need to see increased sales or at the very least, lower bounce rates and a higher percentage of repeat visitors.

Fortunately, social media unlike SEO offers the versatility you need to keep your engagement fresh and alluring. However, it is important not to fall into the trap of believing that having a presence on social media is all that is required. To effectively use social media to drive traffic to your website it is important to consider the following:

5 Awesome Portfolio Tips to Maximize Sales for Freelancers

Media_httpfreelancesw_hphyi

The location of your portfolio is important. It resides at the center of your freelance business marketing.

You should host it on your own website using any number of (free or premium) awesome portfolio themes. Start with a strong template, then customize the WordPress theme for your portfolio to make it unique to your branding and freelance business goals.

This is a fairly standard workflow to follow. But how you set up your portfolio, the language you use, and the weight you give to design elements, is where the most important portfolio marketing decisions you will make reside.

Media_httpwwwinccomup_oqvep

Last week, I was talking with the CEO of a start-up that was so successful that in the last year it had increased its revenues and employee count by more than 50%. And at the same time, it had just raised tens of millions in venture capital.

Did this start-up have the bull by the horns? Not exactly.

That’s because the CEO was concerned about whether his start-up could do a better job of managing its growth. In particular, he thought the start-up could improve its structure, systems, and shared values.
