5 Most Common Incorporation Questions Answered

While every business is different, most people who are looking to incorporate tend to have very similar concerns about the process. Incorporating entails giving up some control over a business, so these concerns are understandable—obviously, you don’t want to rush into something that can wind up costing you hundreds of dollars only to find that you don’t like running a corporation. Over the course of my career as CEO of MyCorporation, I have helped hundreds of small-business owners incorporate their businesses. Most of these small-business owners come with a laundry list of concerns and questions, but I’ve noticed that five questions tend to come up more than any others. Here are answers to the five most frequently asked questions about the process.

Twitter: To Schedule or Not To Schedule?

Media_httpfreelancesw_eakdj

To paraphrase Shakespeare to the point of mangling:

To schedule, or not to schedule, that is the question:
Whether ’tis better to always be present
In person when you tweet,
Or to prepare tweets in advance,
Ever ready for what you will say next.

Whether or not to schedule Twitter updates is a topic of hot debate in the social media community. Numerous tools – including BufferApp and Tweetdeck – allow you to set up Tweets in advance, helping you save time while boosting your Twitter presence. On the other hand, opponents of scheduling argue that pre-scheduled tweets are lazy, and show a disrespect for your audience.

In this article, I look at the cons and pros of scheduling. Admittedly, I favor a mix of scheduled and live tweets. For me, scheduling a tweet is similar to scheduling a blog post. It’s convenient for you, as it saves you time, and it’s convenient for your audience, as it spreads your tweets across the day.

I’ll be as objective as I can, but bear in mind I’m biased towards scheduling.

The Most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about WordPress

Media_httpcdninstants_ieirp

While yesterday’s world required webmasters to have advanced programming skills, today’s world allows individuals to create websites in as little as a few hours. Although there are many available platforms, such as Wix, MoonFruit, and FreeWebs, that allow users to create websites via pre-built templates and drag-n-drop tools, these sites usually display ads or their own branding on your website and are often limited in customizability.

9 Critical Questions to Ask When Hiring a Social Media Agency

A few months back, New York Times Bestseller, Gary Vaynerchuk said that 95% of Social Media consultants were “bozos”. Although Gary apologized for his hyperbole, on some level we agree that businesses would be better off if they asked their agencies better questions up-front.

Since social media has taken a front-seat role in many communications plans it pays to dig deep and really understand what your social media agency has “under the hood.” This isn’t new, the web is filled with helpful agency hiring checklists, but most of them ask the wrong questions.

Homework Questions? Ask a Tutor on InstaEDU

Media_http6mshcdncomw_hyajf

The pool of tutors available to teach high school and college-aged students just became a whole lot more accessible.

Online tutoring site InstaEDU, which launched in public beta in May, announced new features to its site on Tuesday. Now students can schedule tutoring sessions in advance, including SAT prep courses.

Previously, InstaEDU was kind of like a reliable Google search for homework questions. Macroeconomics class giving you a tough time? InstaEDU would connect you to a tutor in real-time who is skilled in this subject. Tutors for one-shot sessions are available any time of day for 50 cents per minute ($30 an hour).

Now, InstaEDU lets students develop stronger and longer-lasting relationships with their favorite tutors by booking ongoing sessions. InstaEDU’s private tutoring can cost as little as $22 an hour for returning customers.

5 Questions to Ask Before You Act on That Great Idea

f your small business’s innovation efforts are successful, you’ll end up with an embarrassment of riches—dozens of innovative ideas and possibilities, each one of which has the potential to enhance, enrich and change your business. When you’re lucky enough to be in this situation, you’re faced with a new challenge: How do you decide which innovative idea (or ideas) to act on?

Many small businesses approach innovation the wrong way around, devoting lots of time to coming up with ideas and then quickly deciding among them in a scattershot fashion. For best results, however, you should spend more time assessing your ideas and deciding which one/s to implement than you do coming up with those ideas in the first place.

Media_httpimggawkeras_jdigd

In our "What Was It" series, we've been talking with notable people about what first piqued their interest in technology.

People like Steve Wozniak and Alexis Ohanian have shared what pushed them into this field. Last night, at the American Museum of Natural History, Neil de Grasse Tyson told us what got him hooked on space exploration.

These recent discussions have been illuminating, and we'd like to hear more on the subject from our readers. So what did it for you? A trip to a planetarium? A high school science teacher? Tetris?

Media_httpnetdnawebde_geoal

Anyone who writes about web design or runs a web design blog (like this one) is bound to get questions from new designers on a pretty regular basis. And most of us try to answer those questions as time allows (which, unfortunately, isn’t as often as I’d like).

Since time can be an issue, I’ve pulled together some of the most common questions that get asked over and over again, and tried to answer them. These include things like where to learn to design, what skills you need, and how to get clients.

Media_httpimggawkeras_jjbdj

But would you join the ranks of the 3DTV faithful if you didn't need specs, or do you think the technology in general is frivolous?

Google Search Beats the Crap Out of Siri In 1600 Question Test

Media_httpimggawkeras_dcamk

Pitting Google search against Siri using a monster 1600-question test shows how useful Siri really is: not at all. Google answered correctly 86 percent of the time. Siri achieved just 68 percent accuracy. At that point, it's not much better than a crystal ball.

We knew that Siri isn't very good. But this intense test shows just how ridiculous the gimmicky voice assistant could be.

The fact is that even Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has been saying this since the day Apple introduced the iPhone 4S with Siri. It just sucks. Siri as an independent product, before Apple acquired it, the Woz told us at the Gizmodo Gallery...

Do You Actually Use Voice Commands on Your Smartphone?

Media_httpimggawkeras_baufg

If the last month has made anything evident, it's that tech companies are not treating voice recognition as a gimmick, and in fact, are increasingly paying more attention to it. But like our friend Matt Buchanan points out, it's sort of de-humanizing. Is this something you actually use? How do you use it? Do you feel comfortable talking to your phone in public?

Media_httpcdntheatlan_glnvh

American medical discourse is chock full of addictions these days. There's video game addiction. Porn addiction. Gambling addiction. Internet addiction.

And of course: Facebook addiction. At least, that's according to Norwegian researcher Cecilie Schou Andreassen, who says people who can't get enough of the social network show many of the same signs of withdrawal and mood swings associated with gambling junkies.

Although Facebook is not a chemical like alcohol or cocaine, she said in an email to The Atlantic, Facebook users can fit the criteria for addiction that are applied to other things.
