How to create a great ‘about’ page
Here’s one thing that never made sense to me: people make websites so others can find out more about them, but most “About Us” pages absolutely suck. They’re either really long and boring or really short and mysterious. Not many people understand the best way to go about these pages.

The Key to Creating Content that Resonates with Your Audience
A tuning fork vibrates at a particular pitch when you strike it against a hard surface. It emits a pure tone that musicians can use to tune their instruments (like violins and guitars).
One job you have as a content marketer is to think of your reader as a tuning fork. You need to publish great content in order to create resonance with that reader — to get that person to emit a particular tone that gets them to know, like, and trust you.
But creating posts that resonate with your readers is an often-overlooked part of what we do. It’s one of those touchy-feely things no one talks about. But it’s incredibly important — and it can be difficult to do.

Why content is the pinnacle of online marketing
The truth is this – before the last year, it really wasn’t. Content has always been important, but it wasn’t until recent updates in Google and Facebook that content took a huge leap from being a portion of search and social marketing to become the actual hub through which search and social marketing flow. Today, marketing starts from content and works its way down versus recent years where content was simply a tool in the marketing strategy.
Google, Facebook, Bing, and Twitter are getting smarter every day. They have more brainpower going into figuring out how to stop spammers than the spammers have dedicated into finding new ways to spam. In other words, any tactic that involves practices that aren’t focused on quality can only bring short term benefit and can eventually lead to doing more harm than good. That’s the way that online marketing is heading and that’s a very good thing for both internet surfers as well as honest businesses and marketing agencies...

The Importance Of Video In The Content Marketing Mix
Most people believe that content marketing is simply the process of using “content” to attract links for SEO purposes and admittedly, to a certain extent, this is true. However, content marketing is much more than this; it’s the process of effectively marketing your business through the distribution of various forms of content and establishing yourself/your company as an authoritative figure within your industry.
A lot of people get the whole content marketing concept entirely wrong; if you’re just about to head over to ArticleBase to submit those ten articles you’ve just had produced by an Indian writer you hired for $0.01 per word on DigitalPoint, I’m talking about you. This isn’t content marketing (well technically it is I guess, but it’s unlikely to have any positive results these days).
Even if you’re not still stuck in the 90′s when it comes to SEO, you’re probably not utilising many different forms of content such as video. Blog posts, guest posts and even infographics seem to be the top of everyone’s list but still, video never seems to be utilised anywhere near as much as it should be.

Crimes Against Content Makers In The Digital Age
It is very easy to now write and be published online, even if you are halfway around the world. But it is much, much easier to have your content ripped off by unscrupulous parasites, who don’t want to put in the hours to create good content.
Some steal in parts, sometimes half-heartedly paraphrasing (to cover their tracks), sometimes using direct copy-and-pasting to take bits and pieces of a few articles to ‘produce’ their own piece. When you do this without crediting the original writer, this is called plagiarism.

According to unnamed sources from AdAge, YouTube may be looking to get into a paid channel service as early as this spring. Starting with approximately 25 channels, the website will offer them from anywhere between $1 to $5 per month.
And unlike other online video services, such as Netflix and Hulu Plus, which offer already existing TV shows, YouTube is looking to incorporate premium (paid) services into already existing, online-only channels the likes of Machinima and Maker Studios; these channels already bring in millions of views.

Report: YouTube May Start Making You Pay For Content

The subscriptions won't be too pricey—at least for right now. Based on applications YouTube has reportedly asked a small group of unnamed channels to submit, the first group of paid channels will probably somewhere between $1 and $5 a month.

What Every Content Marketer Needs to Know about Mobile Marketing
Creating epic content and continually teaching your audience — if done well — can eventually earn you raving fans and paying customers.
The problem is your audience now chooses how they learn, where they learn, and when they learn.
If your business only connects with customers on the desktop, you’re not only missing a huge opportunity to grow your business, but you’re pushing business away … possibly to your competitor.
Think about your daily routine for a second … checking your email from bed, first thing in the morning is pretty common.
Design or Content First: The Chicken & the Egg
Tell me if this sounds familiar. You’re starting a website design project, and the client wants to tackle their own content – or maybe there is an outside copywriter. So as to keep the project moving along, you decide you will just jump into design using lorem ipsum (or perhaps bacon ipsum) before you get the real content; after all, when the content comes in, you can just swap out the placeholder copy with the real copy.

Chart of the day: How People Share Content on the Web
Despite the spread of thousands of different sharing buttons on the Web, the most popular way to share content is old fashioned copy and paste, according to a study of 17,000 publishers by ad-tech company 33 Across. In the chart below, you can see that 82% of content sharing is done with copy and paste.
What happens after the content is copied and pasted? Business Insider uses 33 Across' Tynt technology to track links. 33 Across provided us with a breakdown of where people are sharing our content. As you can see, email is number one, then Facebook, and then Twitter.
Think about that. Despite the rise of Facebook and Twitter, the most popular way to share content, for Business Insider readers anyway, is copy, paste, email.
(To be clear, the 82% number is based on 17,000 publishers. The break out of what happens is specific to Business Insider. But, Business Insider's ratio of copy and pasting to share buttons is pretty much in line with everyone else, says 33 Across.)
