Andrew lives in Brooklyn and works in Manhattan as a bartender. He bought his first DSLR back in June of 2009. Ever since then, he has been addicted to photography. He loves the cinematic style, and that is probably what he is best known for. He also uses his 5D to shoot video, and is working on a short film about the occupy Wall Street protest at the moment.
The world’s population is rapidly moving into city centers; by 2050, seven out of every 10 people on Earth will live in a city. But not every city will be a megacity--defined as an urban area with over 10 million inhabitants--and not every megacity is equally large.
Every year, Demographia releases a comprehensive list of the population, land area, and population density of urban areas with over 500,000 inhabitants. It’s a huge list, as you might imagine. But in looking at the top 10 urban areas by population, some clear patterns emerge. Below, the list.
I am 28 years old currently living just outside London in Hertfordshire, UK. I am a self taught photographer who has started photography in 2009 when I got my first DSLR.
My inspiration to start photography was due to a trip to New York when I just took my ‘point and shoot’ camera and when I got back home I was really disappointed with the images I had taken with it, hence the reason the next day I went out and bought my DSLR so I could learn the craft of photography.
I mainly shoot architecture and cityscape/urban landscape images in and around London and other parts of the UK, but also have a keen interest in other forms of photography like Long Exposure photography.

Brendan Austin was 15 when his parents took him out of school, “My father was in engineering, and his job took us all around the world. I must have lived in 50 houses by the age of 21.” This time the decampment was to Durban, on the east coast of South Africa. “I was half way through studying for exams in the UK when we moved, so rather than start a new school I carried on learning remotely. It meant I had a lot of time on my hands.” Time which, eventually, he filled with taking pictures.

With a name like Roadsworth, you could easily guess that this isn't any ordinary street artist. Though born Peter Gibson, he chose the name Roadsworth because, as he states, "Where Wordsworth is a poet of words, Roadsworth is a poet of roads."
Though he started painting on the streets as a form of activism (for more bike paths), his motivation later evolved into a more personal one. It became his alternative form of expression, a creative outlet if you will. Currently his works all have an aspect of protest in them, a way for Roadsworth to comment on today's social issues or, as he says, "simply protest against the mundaneness of the urban landscape."
Marcel Fischer is a freelance photographer residing in Boxtel, southern Netherlands. He’s mostly into urban photography, landscape photography and urban exploration, though his job also includes shooting portraits and weddings.
Street art is one of the more popular art trends sweeping the globe. Although usually people consider street art to be sidewalk chalk, it can also include murals, graffiti and other street-based artworks. To an extent, most of us have experimented with street art, by playing with sidewalk chalk when we were younger.
But to create a truly eyecatching street artwork, you have to have artistic talent, skill with alternative media, a bit of luck and a great vision. With some paint or chalk, you can create all sorts of unique street art.

Jeremy Mann is a San Francisco-based artist that has created these gorgeous oil paintings of moody cityscapes. The dark urban streets appear to be soaked in rain, evoking feelings of wonder and mystery.

Black and white cityscape photographs have a spark in itself and create a nostalgic impression of the urban landscape. Absence of colors adds depth to these photographs and makes the high rise and other elements present in it distinct and clear. Black and white photographs help in bringing into limelight the different skyscrapers and other buildings present in urban landscape.
This genre of photography also creates a sense of seclusion in the landscape of urban jungle. Moreover, it also helps in capturing the magic and charisma of the city landscape in its true sense. It is best to include the imposing and soaring buildings in these photographs as they can create alluring shadow effects and distinct contours. This post is dedicated to all the photographers who have never experimented with this typical style but wants to explore with this kind as well. They can start their experiment from their hometown, especially the downtown area where a lot of skyscrapers of contemporary style are present. It doesn’t matter how you call this city ‘the Big Apple’, ‘the Empire state’ or ‘the city that never sleeps’ it still remains the New York we know, with all its attractiveness, daring and versatility. Maybe in order to feel and understand the lifestyle of this city, one should stay there at least for some time, but nevertheless, visiting this city of contrasts will definitely make an impression on you! These Darkened Cities image series by Thierry Cohen is truly awe inspiring. Not only because he accurately portraits the skylines of major cities with no lighting whatsoever, but because the images remind us of the incredible show we city dwellers are missing every night.
To make these images, Cohen travelled to places far away from the cities but on the same latitude. While LA, San Francisco or Rio de Janeiro are buzzing with gigawatts of electricity, locations like Joshua Tree National park, the Mojave Desert, and the Amazon are completely dark. They see the exact same skies as their urban counterparts, just separated by some time, as Earth rotates on its axis. Cohen photographed and combined these skies with images of the cities, treated so they looked as though they were illuminated only by the stars. The result is what you see here.
One thing I love about photography is when people take different approaches on it. Tom Ryaboi does that extremely well. Granted, some of these shots are your standard architectural/urban shots, however, most of them are stunning. The main thing I am wondering about Toms shot on the roof of the building, is it real? Composite? What do you guys think?

“For me, photography will always be closely tied to travelling. I like to travel, see the world, where I hope to learn something, grow, and maybe leave something behind. Naturally, somewhere along the line, I wanted to capture some of these moments. The camera allowed me to capture beautiful places, interesting people, and sometimes even myself.

Simon says: "My style is a mix of Western, Asian and Arabian calligraphy and I try to find abandoned places and turn them with the calligraphy to a piece of art. I create my works in studio with ink and bamboo pens and when it comes to wall i use materials such as flat brushes and large brooms."
