Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a geek? Are geeks highly intellectual individuals who are obsessively passionate over computer technology, or elements of pop culture so much that their lifestyle revolves around this passion? Can we label anyone who is well-versed with these topics as a geek? Or is there something else more fundamental that helps make this distinction?
Modern society is massively complex. We like to pretend that our mastery of tools and technology has made life easier or better, but in actuality it has never been harder to simply live life.
Above all else, tools and technology give us choices, and more choice means more complexity. 10,000 years ago, life basically consisted of hunting, eating, and procreating. Stone arrowheads were the state of the art, tool-wise. Over time, new materials were mastered and new tools devised (iron, paper, plastics, computer chips) — and society grew increasingly complex (trade, diplomacy, religion, global media).
If you are shopping for a geek, you know that it is no easy task, hopefully this list of items will give you some ideas, or inspire you with some different ideas on your gift purchasing journey this year! The following list is something I have compiled (being a geek myself) of items that I would want for myself (if I had the money or someone was buying them for me that is. FEEL FREE TO BUY THEM FOR ME BTW LOL) these are in no particular order of course. I chose these items based on fun factor, coolness, and new/usefulness of the tech gadgets – hopefully they will be worthy additions to your shopping list (and your geeks will appreciate them!). Most importantly, I hope you don’t stress out over shopping and enjoy time with the family this year We all need that time to rewind and reflect on ourselves so that we can do more of the stuff that we love and make a difference in the world! As Christmas is almost upon us I thought it might be fun for us to share some Christmas gift suggestions that we might like to see under the Christmas tree.

To kick us off, I thought I would share with you my own suggestions. These are all items I personally own and can recommend. As it is Christmas, it seems only right that I share 12 gifts, one for each of the 12 days of Christmas.

Year in, year out we’ve been stuck with old-fashioned snowman, angel, ribbon, bell and shiny ball ornaments. Maybe it’s time we inject some geekiness into this year’s Christmas.
