It's that time of year, again. That time in which we all run around stressing out about putting down our credit cards or hard-earned cash money for those absolutely perfect things that our friends and lovers and family members will, we hope against hope, finally appreciate. Gift Ideas For Techies And Regular Folk [Infographic]
Technology may not be the most personal of gifts, but it's got two things going for it as a holiday offering:
1. Typically this is the time of year when tech prices are cut
2. Tech gifts usually last for a while.
But how do you know what tech gizmo or service people want? Tthat's the real question, isn't it?
Start with this rule of thumb: Don't buy someone a smartphone or computer unless you know exactly what they want. Purchasing such items as a surprise gift - unless it's for a young child - usually doesn't work out very well, since the odds are you won't be able to figure what will really make them happy.
All is not lost, though. There's plenty of tech out there that makes a great gift for that special someone. I'll start with some cool stuff that I'm either buying or coveting. (If they don't work for you in terms of price or availability, hopefully they'll spark ideas for similar items.) And if you need hard-core gift suggestions for true technology professionals but don't want to spoil the surprise by asking what they want, take a look at the infographic from the IT community at Spiceworks.

Were You Born A Designer?
In my exploration of others’ designs, I’ve often wondered whether my favorite works are a result of a designer’s acquired knowledge of the craft or a natural gift; whether some just “have it” and some don’t, or everyone has the potential to learn how to design.
In my research, I’ve come up short in finding sources that strictly refute my personal opinion: designing is a talent a person is born with that must be further cultivated through education.

Having a website is great because you can tell the world what you think or what you offer, but the hardest part is to interact with your readers. Got an AT&T iPhone? iOS 5.1 now gives you '4G'
Ever since T-Mobile and AT&T began touting their HSPA+ networks as "4G," the debate on the term's legitimacy has raged on. Regardless of how you feel about the matter, one thing's for sure: Apple's finally taken sides on the argument, and the company's all for it. In today's iOS update, Cupertino features an "updated AT&T network indicator," which means you'll see a 4G icon whenever you're in HSPA+ coverage. Granted, this doesn't actually mean you'll enjoy faster speeds -- you'll just have a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that another G just got added to your screen. Such an action makes us wonder if Apple's slowly losing its ability to stand up against AT&T's wishes, not to mention the demands of other US carriers.
