What Responsive Design Means

Media_httpwdstandards_fhobr

Responsive design is a style in which the layout responds of your webpage adjusts based on the device that it is being rendered on. So, depending on what device you are viewing a website, whether it’s on a desktop, a smart phone or a tablet, the layout will adjust based on the width of the browser. You will have different views, text, navigation and images are reflowed and or minimized.

The use of responsive design is ideal for businesses who do not want to create a different version of their website for different devices. More and more, responsive web design represents a shift in how websites will be built as the number of different devices increase. Within the next few years, as users increasingly access the internet through their mobile devices, it becomes paramount that websites are displayed accordingly on the different devices.

Responsive Web design is not only about adjustable screen sizes and automatic image resizing, but rather about a whole new way of thinking about design.

What Kind of Geek Are You?

Media_httpimggawkeras_swizt

If you're reading this website, you're very probably some sort of geek. Which is totally not a bad thing! The question is, of course, what kind of geek are you? A gadget geek? An Internet geek? Perhaps an Apple Fanboy Geek? Check out this infographic to find out.

Though the infographic generalizes each geektype to a fault, I'm pretty sure I know a person from each kind of geek. To be fair, we're all probably bits and pieces of geek in one, a little Gadget geek sprinkled with Star Wars knowledge or sports geek mixed with Apple fanboy geek or some geek with another geek. Geek, geek, geek, geek, geek. If anyone is a geek of all these geekdoms, does that make them the king of geeks or just a nerd? Check out the full infographic here.
