60 Creative Usage of Typography in Advertising

Media_httpcdntripwire_iegrc

Just like other elements of the design, typography also plays a big role in the overall impact of the advertisement. It explains in words the point being illustrated by the graphics so that the audience would understand the meaning of the symbolisms, or the otherwise abstract concepts on the advertisement. This is done so that, the audience can understand the message of the advertisement and from there, be convinced to take the line of action enunciated or encouraged by the ad. From this perspective therefore, typography in advertising is intended to help the audience interpret the overall message of ad quickly and correctly. Towards this end, artist do not arbitrarily put texts into their designs but instead they go to some extra length to fashion the letters and words so that their appearance, visually supports the idea of the design; and they do so in countless ways limited only by their imagination and skill.

What the average user is doing relatively little of, however, is talking -- using the smartphone as, you know, a phone. The average user is spending around 12 minutes doing that -- making talking with friends a less popular activity than playing, say, "Words with Friends."

We Now Send Over 400 Million Tweets a Day

Media_httpimggawkeras_appev

According to Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, we now send over 400 million tweets every day. That's over a quarter of a million every minute, or more than 4,500 every single second. That is an awful lot of people sharing their eating habits.

Perhaps even more interesting, Costolo has also explained that the majority of Twitter users are mobile—and that mobile users are far more active than their desktop equivalents.

That's something that Twitter must be extremely thankful for. Their ad platform is far better suited to mobile than it is to desktop, so a user base that favors tweeting on the go can only be a good thing when it comes to the company raking in cash.
