Uphold policy while being a customer advocate. Try to upsell but stick to your average handle time. The list goes on and on. Unfortunately, attempts to shore up performance on one end of the scale can often lead to disaster in another area. Here are a few of the most common examples of where things can go horribly wrong.

A Guide to the Most Loved and Hated Fonts

Media_httpvanimgs3ama_fbdyw

The type used to communicate a message is every bit as important as the language used to do it. Different typefaces, or, in this digital age, fonts, signify different levels of sincerity, whimsy, or authority. Some fonts automatically feel more official, while others cannot help but feel like fun. Some are easier to read while others are more of a struggle for the eye. Is there a computer-using, high school or college student who hasn’t played with different fonts and font sizes to try and extend a paper that is running a bit short of a required page length? Ultimately some fonts wind up being consistently more popular across discipline, user population, and purpose. The following is a guide to the top five best-loved fonts and top five most hated.

15 Worst Corporate Logo Fails

Media_httpstatic3busi_elsrf

After examining a recent spate of bad logo redesigns, we felt that it was time to reflect upon 15 of the most inappropriate and idiotic logo fails ever.

While designers have complained about DC Comics' new (and overly complex) logo and Jenny Craig's recent rebranding as "Jenny" -- as Brand New put it, it looks "like a chick left her name and phone number on a bar napkin with only a red lipstick kiss at the bottom missing" -- those questionable designs pale in comparison to some famous logo flops.

More bad news for Facebook, as site crashes

Media_httpgigaom2file_fhccw

Facebook isn’t having a good May. First its IPO didn’t “pop” and then the stock traded down the week after it went public. And on Thursday night the social network experienced a substantial outage, going dark for up to 80 minutes for some people. The site is still loading slowly for me and is apparently out for some people at 6:35 PT.

The Tech CEO Hall of Shame

Media_httpwwwreadwrit_bfrfk

In the grand pantheon of disgraced technology company CEOs, the resume blunder of ousted Yahoo Chief Executive Scott Thompson seems almost trivial. Claiming an unearned degree pales in comparison to the true titans of tech transgressions - whose careers were toppled by everything from massive fraud and grand larceny to inappropriate dalliances with underlings. Each imploded in their own particular way, but all their stories come mixed with heaping helpings of arrogance and a dollop of coverup.

Here’s your chance to meet the real world of Horrible Bosses, and get a glimpse of how they were rewarded - or occasionally punished - for behaving badly...

The Anatomy of a Horrible Web Design Client [INFOGRAPHIC]

Media_httpwebtoolfeed_zfjyz

What does a horrible web design client look like? A horrible web design client is someone who does not really know what they want. They will consistently change their mind with every new idea, new sketch, and new draft. The only way to counteract them is to be completely confident in your vision for your design.

A horrible web design client also makes it very difficult for their designer to figure out what they want. With every turn, there are more needs, more new pages to create, and more changes that need to be made. A designer should be willing to make changes, but the wise designer also knows when to draw the line and tell their client that what has already been designed is going to be the most effective version of the design.

Every designer needs to know how to handle a horrible client, and knowing the anatomy of a terrible client makes every designer’s life easier.

5 Bad Sales Habits to Avoid

Media_httpwwwinccomup_flydk

The most successful salespeople are always experts at working with the people in their own firm. They make certain that their company provides the right products, the right support and the right hand-holding, so that the customer has the best experience possible.

Some salespeople, however, have exactly the wrong idea. They see the people in their own firm (including their own management) as obstacles or as irrelevant. As a result, they end up irritating the very people who will keep customer happy.

How to Know and Beware of Some Bad Clients?

Media_httpcdninstants_htsfb

This article is not really a usual site. Conventionally we have been told that our dear Mr. Client is the best thing that has ever happened to us. And we must do any and everything with in our reach to make certain that the client remains gleeful and satisfied with our services. More often than not, it is the client who walks out on us, the other wise hard working and dedicated professionals, who he may term are “unprofessional and incompetent” but here in the write up we will shed some light on the other side of the story.
