Media_httprack3mshcdn_gtgkb

Google has updated its YouTube iOS app to version 1.3, with the most notable improvement being support for live streaming.

Oddly enough, the update comes right after Coachella, which was streamed to YouTube this weekend. There's always next year, we guess.

Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator Now Available With Retina Display Support

Media_httpimggawkeras_fkven

The only complaint I had about my new MacBook Pro 15 is now gone. Well, not all of them, but only the one about its gorgeous Retina display: Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator are now both available with Retina display support. What a change!

I've been using the Retina-enabled betas for quite a while now, and they work great. It's must-have upgrade if you are using these products on the MacBook Pro 15 or 13.

You will see the difference from the moment you start: icons and text on the palettes are now ultra-sharp. But the most important change is not that, it's the fact that Adobe's graphics engine now knows the relative resolution of your screen (221 pixels per inch) and act accordingly.

Are you supporting your blogging community? You should

Media_httpcdntechicom_brobm

As a blogger you strive to get your written words distributed on as many blog sites as you can, especially if you are looking to have your name publicized and associated with certain niches, communities and subjects. You already know that remaining “stale” or “stagnant” is not an option as a writer; in fact they just might be two of the most despised words within the blogosphere. Although you need to spend a lot of time learning and finding sources to promote you (if you are a serious writer), after finding a blog that will publish your words of art, then is the moment it should become about them.

After Many Delays, Wikipedia Adds Video Support Today

As of today, Wikipedia is open to HTML5 video uploads.

The video project is a collaboration with video start-up Kaltura and Google, and it’s actually been in the works since 2008, but was delayed by infrastructure upgrades, personnel changes and other problems over the past four years.

“Wikipedia has more than half a billion unique monthly visitors, so any new feature that is deployed needs to be really sustainable and fool-proof,” said Kaltura president Michal Tsur.

Today, there are only about 6,000 videos on Wikipedia, a mishmash of beta testing and uploads in an older and more limited format called Ogg Theora. You can see an example of a Kaltura video on the page about polar bears.

With over 8 million people without power throughout the east coast and New York City dark below 40th st. people are getting antsy for some electricity...especially for their phones.

That is where clever New York startup Moxy comes in. The company provides cell phone charging stations that also distribute wi-fi. As the storm settled, but the power not so much, the company got an interesting offer from Chase. Come provide your stations in one of our branches on the border with the powerless.

The move is a great act of kindness and terrific marketing. We stumbled across them as we wandered the dark city yesterday. Speaking with the people using the service and the people providing the service gave an interesting insight into life during Sandy and its aftermath.

How to Offer an Awesome Customer Support

Media_httpworkawesome_gnnbf

In an ideal world, your customers would communicate with you only during business hours. They would peruse your website before calling you about anything, and place online orders – which you’d gleefully fill while enjoying your morning coffee. You’d never get a crabby email clearly demanding customer support, and you could disconnect your phones.
