Spotify Up to 5 Million Paid Subscribers

Spotify has 5 million subscribers and 20 million users, CEO Daniel Ek announced at a press event in New York.

In July, the company said it had 4 million paying subscribers and 15 million active users worldwide. That was up from 3 million paid subscribers last January and 1.5 million in the summer of 2011, right before the company arrived in the U.S.

Ek said 1 million of the company’s paid subscribers are now in the U.S. “We’ve been growing like crazy,” he deadpanned.

Here Are The Most Popular Songs Of 2012, According To Spotify

Spotify has released its list of the 100 most popular songs of 2012 throughout the entire world.

The number one most streamed song was Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know." Unless you live under a rock, you've certainly heard the song.

As of November, Spotify was available in 21 countries around the world. In September, the music-streaming service reported having more than 20 million users. It's safe to say it has a pretty good pulse on what songs are popular.

Spotify Just Announced A Global Partnership With Coca-Cola

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek just announced a global strategic partnership with Coca-Cola at Ad Age's Digital Conference Wednesday morning.

"I can't reveal more details now," Ek said, "but I'm really excited about this."
A press conference is scheduled for noon.

Ek continued that this expands on Coke's history of integrating music in its campaigns.
