One of the common trends amongst successful startups – or at least, startups that are popular and often talked about – is an eye for great design. Whether it’s the design of the product, or the website that markets it, design appears to be a common factor in most successful new businesses.
It’s unlikely that great design alone makes or breaks a company, but a beautifully designed homepage is likely to perform better. It increases the chance that visitors will stick around and read what you have to say, which can then result in more attention and more sales.
While larger, more established companies can get away with not focusing as much on design, the smarter startups know that it can help to swing the odds in their favour. Startups are also less concerned with playing it safe, and so they are often more comfortable with adopting some of the more adventurous and creative design trends.
