iPhone 5S Rumor Roundup: Everything We Think We Know

Media_httpicdn6digita_lmylf

The build up to the launch of a new iOS device is always paved with rumors, speculation, and mostly unfulfilled promises. Every year the tech world and the regular world collectively obsess over Apple’s newest device as images leak and insiders report.

If Apple’s typical naming scheme is to be trusted, we can basically guarantee we’ll be seeing the latest iPhone carry the title of 5S. Though some say this will only be one of three models set to launch in 2013. All signs point to a nearly identical design on the outside with all the changes taking place under the hood. From there, the rumors range from absurd to virtually certain and we try to tell you which is which along the way.

The Ultimate Roundup of 2013's Biggest April Fools' Day Pranks

Media_httprack3mshcdn_chshh

April 1st is an odd day for us all. Half of the world's population spend the day cowering in fear of being fooled, the other half spend the day scheming. No one is safe, nothing is sacred.

And really, you should be wary of all news that is announced on this day (and March 31st and maybe even April 2nd — actually, just always be wary). Nonetheless, April Fools' Day brings out some surprising hilarity in everyone, or at least a few product launches and webpage redesigns that will give you a chuckle or two.

New Motorola X Phone rumors suggest it'll be a high spec super phone

Media_httpicdn7digita_kxwlz

Now the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One have both been officially announced, the Android rumor mill is turning its attention to the Motorola X Phone, the name given to the first, true hardware collaboration between Motorola and new owners Google. It has not been officially announced yet, but there have been some subtle hints dropped by Google executives concerning its existence, and these are regularly joined by leaked, speculative feature lists.

We start the week with another set, this time provided to PhoneArena. In keeping with previous leaks, the anonymous source states the X Phone may have a 4.8-inch screen and be powered by a 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. Following some comments made by Google’s Larry Page, it has been assumed the X Phone will have a tough exterior and a powerful battery. This new rumor suggests the phone will be water resistant and the screen will be covered in sapphire glass, which as we found out during Mobile World Congress, is almost indestructible. Couple this with rubberized corner protection and a carbon fiber rear panel, and you’ll have to be pretty careless to do the handset much damage. Finally, a massive 4000mAh battery could provide the X Phone with all the energy it needs, and Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie may be its operating system.

Samsung Galaxy S IV: the rumor roundup

Media_httpwwwblogcdnc_vwhrq

Compared to the sheer deluge of rumors surrounding last year's Galaxy S III, talk about the Galaxy S IV has been relatively hushed. That's partly owing to the contracted launch schedule -- despite Samsung's initial denials, the company is unveiling its next Android flagship almost two months before the GS3's first birthday. There's still been a fair share of rumormongering, however, and a picture is emerging of just what Samsung could unveil for yet another encore. Will the smartphone giant make a sharp break from tradition? Read past the break for a roundup of what to expect when Samsung hits the stage at Radio City Music Hall.

Media_httpassetssbnat_vyrjk

Surface Pro review round-up: Fast, fat, and not enough battery life to be useful

Media_httpwwwextremet_qegie

More than three months after the release of Microsoft’s Surface RT tablet, the first full reviews of the Surface Pro are in — and they’re not good. While being lauded for its innovative design and top-notch display, almost every review notes that the Surface Pro is plagued by poor battery life, cumbersome dimensions for a tablet, and weak cameras.

The hard truth of the matter is that the Surface Pro — like Windows 8 — suffers from a massive identity crisis. The Surface Pro, without a dock or physical keyboard, tries to be a tablet — but with just four or five hours of battery life, using the Surface Pro as an on-the-move tablet is impossible. The Surface Pro, with a kickstand, tries to be a laptop — but it’s very hard to actually use on your lap, the screen’s angle can’t be adjusted, and again the battery life is an issue. As with its brother, the Surface RT, we have to ask: What is the Surface Pro, and who is it for?

Roundup: 40 Must Have HTML5 and jQuery Tutorials

Media_httpwwwtopdesig_jsgvf

When starting learning how to create web applications or websites, one of the most popular advice is to read tutorials and put them into practice. There are a plethora of web development books but the theory is useless without jumping into action. Nowadays thanks to the evolution of the web, we have a lot of tools for creating stunning websites but the building blocks of any online-based project is the old HTML. Sure thing, “old” is an improper word thanks to the newest iteration but you get the point. HTML5 practically opened the door to endless possibilities and it offers a way to create virtually anything you want. Well, almost anything because when you get down to business you’ll realize that HTML by itself it’s not enough. Among other programming or scripting languages you’ll need JavaScript, or better jQuery which will help you take your website to a higher level.

News Website Design

Media_httpstudiokandm_uiwxe

Some say that print is dead, and that applies to newspapers and news magazines perhaps more than any other media. Nowadays nearly everyone gets their news online, at least in some form, whether it’s breaking news or stock updates.

Creating a news website is easy these days, as many content management systems and website builder tools can do it for you. If you’re looking for a quick way to build a site check out this SquareSpace review.

Just because something is easy to build doesn’t mean that it is high quality. For every well designed news website there are many more that are lacking. In general, news websites display more text based content than most other sites, so it is even more crucial that the information has good typographic hierarchy and is easy to navigate.

Let’s take a look at 30 interesting homepage designs for news sites.
