How to Write for Quantity AND Quality

Media_httpinspiration_hglft

If you’re using blogging or article writing to make money–whether you’re writing to get paid for the writing itself or whether you’re writing as part of your social media marketing strategy–then you know that you need to churn out lots of words and lots of pieces.

The problem here, it likely goes without saying, is that when it comes to writing haste makes waste. Even the coldest writing is still a creative endeavor and creative thoughts and expressions must simmer or marinate before being served to others. Nevertheless, the demands of creativity don’t negate the fact that time is of the essence.

21 Famous Authors Write 140-Character Novels

Media_httpassetsflavo_agbjl

We’ve all been lectured about the simplistic perfection of Ernest Hemingway’s six-word short story (“For sale: baby shoes, never worn.”), but would it be possible to write a bite-sized novel the same way? This week, The Guardian asked 21 authors to try their hands at “Twitter fiction” — an entire “novel” in 140 characters. The results are mixed, though there are some great stories in the bunch – Geoff Dyer writes, “I know I said that if I lived to 100 I’d not regret what happened last night. But I woke up this morning and a century had passed. Sorry.” And Helen Fielding’s tale is exactly what we’d expect from her: “OK. Should not have logged on to your email but suggest if going on marriedaffair.com don’t use our children’s names as password.” What do you think, dear readers? Is this a form worth exploring? Let us know your feelings (or your own 140-character tales) in the comments, and be sure to head over to The Guardian to take in the entire list.

What To Do When You Have Nothing To Blog About

Media_httpwebtoolfeed_khhbv

There comes a time when you get stuck while writing. I hear many people suggest to step away from the computer in order to reprogram and relax your mind. While this may be true, the matter of the fact is that you will eventually come back to the same place. Stay away from this loop or unproductivity. Pondering for ideas away from your computer does not mean a bird will tweet it into your ears. You need to get the sticky gum off your shoes and keep moving. This article will provide possible ideas that can help you with your writers block.

4 Tips for Successful Web Content Writing

Media_httpwebtoolfeed_ywdre

Content is king. If you’ve spent much time in reputation management or SEO circles, then that mantra is probably pretty familiar. What it means is simple: That if you’re seeking ranking success on Google, Yahoo, or Bing, the quality of your written content matters a great deal. If your content is lacking, then all the SEO tactics and backlinking strategies in the world are unlikely to help you.

The trend toward content’s superiority has only gained in traction in 2012. Google’s Panda and Penguin updates both arrived with the intent of penalizing content that’s less than stellar; the long and short of it is that, in order to rank well on Google, you’ve got to come up with content that actually appeals to readers—not just the search engines themselves.

6 Proven Tips for Getting into the “Write” Mood

Media_httpwwwthereneg_gdrmg

By Steve Maurer.I am a freelance writer in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I’ve written for clients from Germany to California, all across the United States and in some small towns.

I’m also a freelance writer who doesn’t believe in writer’s block.
More specifically, I don’t believe in that mythical, wraithlike ogre that sucks the life and soul from a writer, rendering him impotent, unable to put words down on paper or screen. Yes, I still have challenges; I just don’t believe that true writer’s block exists.

What to Do When You Hit Your Writing Wall

Media_httpcdnmenwithp_awcaf

“Are you sitting down?” asked my agent.

“Oh good grief, just tell me,” I said, not only not sitting down, but breaking out in goosebumps and hating the sound of my cracking voice. And when had I started wringing my hands?

My scream of triumph just about shattered the library. I didn’t care. I couldn’t. Gotham Books had purchased my book. They’d publish it in 2013.

At that point I had written five chapters in order to sell the memoir. I would only need to write eight more to be done. I laughed when they told me they would give me a year to do it. I had enjoyed the process so much I thought I could probably deliver it a week later if they asked.

And so it was that after calling everyone I knew, I went into the land of literary bliss. The life of the Author, finally with a capital A.

7 Tricks to Write Faster, Better, And More Insightful Articles

Media_http1bpblogspot_rdojg

I finished . I looked up at my friend sitting across from me. I was in school. It was 1st grade and I had just finished writing a story in my small, blue and white notebook. Back then, I had an affinity for writing short stories where animals could talk, and most of them died in every story, much like Kenny in Southpark.
