How to Build the World's Tallest Skyscraper in 90 Days

Media_httpcdntheatlan_srciw

A Chinese company thinks they've simplified the construction process so much that they can build the world's tallest skyscraper in 90 days.

Broad Sustainable Building Corporation will lay the foundation for their "Sky City" project this month. The company, famous for building tall buildings in ridiculously short time spans, plans to construct a 220-story skyscraper in 90 days, with construction starting in January and finishing in March. Sky City, if successful, will be 10 meters higher than the current tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

How do they plan on doing it? BSB eschews architectural beauty for simplicity. Their building are tall and block-y. They essentially make buildings out of lego blocks, but in real life. The National Post has a nice graph explaining how they plan on achieving their 90 day goal. "Traditional construction is chaotic," BSB chairman Zhang Yue recently told Wired magazine. "We took construction and moved it into the factory." BSB prepares the pieces offsite and then brings everything together so it slides in easily when construction begins, exactly like Lego blocks. By breaking everything down into simple blocks piled on top of one another, it allows them to build at an amazing pace -- their goal for Sky City is 5 stories a day.

90+ Epic Sign Design

Media_httpwwwandysowa_gjgid

These days we see signs everywhere. Reminds me of that song by Five Man Electrical Band that goes like this “SIGN SIGN EVERYWHERES A SIGN – Blockin’ out the scenery, breakin’ my mind. Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign?” (love that song lol its so old, brings back the memories! I used to hear it on the radio in my dads truck all the time as a kid). However, these days it is a little different as well – some signs serve a critical purpose, while other signs are for fun, but there are still those really idiotic signs out there that you see that just make you think “Really who is this one for?” lol. Today we are going to look at some really clever sign designs, some of them look awesome, most of them are just meant to be hilarious haha. I like to look at the history of said thing a little bit though first, so lets delve.

90+ Amazing Dubai Pictures – Best Photography from UAE

Media_httpwwwandysowa_igpbp

Ever since I first saw images of Dubai a few years ago, I have been fascinated with the place. It is just one of those places that have a lot of amazing things about it (it is named one of the world’s most expensive cities for a reason!), it went from being an obscure place that not many knew about, to a lush and luxurious city seemingly (to us in the USA I guess) overnight. If you have never heard of this place, read the wiki – it is interesting to say the least. Today I have rounded up my favorite images of the place – these will give you a peek into the breathtaking man made world of Dubai – truly a jewel in the desert. The first time you see the place, it looks unreal – and it is hard to believe that such a place exists on this planet. Although if you read deep into the wiki, you notice that like all things on earth – it has its faults, nothing is perfect, but its still pretty amazing.

90 Alternative Power Source Proposals - From Greener Charcoal to Artificial Photosynthesis

Media_httpcdntrendhun_ztnai

With more and more people becoming conscious of their energy consumption, many keynote speakers and inventors have focused their attention to the promotion of alternative power source proposals.

While solar and hydro power are two of the more commonly used, sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels, there are many new technologies and products by which eco-friendly power is being derived.

Plant-based fuel sources are being examined more extensively, as there have been breakthroughs in various extraction methods poised to remove a viable amount of energy from the foliage without leaving a lasting impact on the ecosystem. Bio-fuel and bio-waste are becoming more prevalent to power everything from cars and planes to electronics. Furthermore, scientists have been experimenting with various bacterial sources which can turn something traditionally seen as a negative product into a positively productive commodity.

If YouTube Were Invented in the 90s, It Would Have Worked Like This

Media_httpimggawkeras_kzaef

What if the YouTube we know and love had been invented in the 1990s? The video is the latest in a series of similarly themed visions of retro-trech showcasing Twitter, Facebook, and Google among others.

This time around, the lovely overacting voice-over artist explains the "Digital Online TV Station" and the wonders of FLV compression. It's the wave of the future, er, the past.
