9 Minority Report Inspired Touchless Technology
Have you seen Minority Report (come on, who hasn’t?) and watched as John Anderton went through holographic reports and databases solely with his gloved hands? Touchless technology based on gestures instead of clicks and typing may have been an element from a sci-fi movie in 2002 but it’s no longer science fiction today.

This Is The Future Of TV
Rich Greenfield, the BTIG analyst who’s something of a digital media oracle, isn’t exaggerating when he says, “The future of television has begun” (registration required). Click play on the video above for a brief tour of what has him so excited.
The service is Time Warner Cable’s new application for Roku set-top boxes. It allows TWC subscribers to view live and on-demand programming on any screen with a Roku connected to it. If that didn’t exactly blow your mind, here’s why it should:
∙ In the future of television, the set-top box is king. Screens will be increasingly plentiful, and turning them into full-fledged internet and media devices—what we used to call “computers”—is already pretty easy. Small set-top devices like the brand-new Roku 3, which costs $99, are all you need to get programming onto a television screen.
That’s why people increasingly think Apple’s much-anticipated “television” will actually be two products: a high-resolution screen and a set-top box similar to the existing Apple TV. Then the question is simply, what is the set-top box capable of doing? And, obviously, playing television shows is just a small part of the answer to that question.
The Implications Of The Interface That Watches You
This coming week, we’re likely to get a peek at Samsung’s next generation Galaxy flagship smartphone, and by most accounts, it’ll have an auto-scrolling feature that can use head movement cues to detect when you’re paying attention to what’s on the small screen, and when you look away. There’s no word on just how specific it will be, but others are prepping tech that detects eye movement with a high level of accuracy to determine not just when someone’s facing a screen, but also where exactly their attention is focused.
Phones that pay at least as much attention to a user as a user pays to them are coming, whether in the form of the Galaxy S IV or not. And when they do, they’ll bring a tremendous amount of innovation potential to the application market, lucrative opportunities for mobile advertisers, and privacy concerns that make those around the rise of mobile location services over the past five years look like a minor concern.

Leap Motion + Hologram = The Future of Awesomeness
Whether you like gesture control or not, Leap Motion's fine-grain floating-finger input looks like pure future. And it only gets better when you're controlling a pseudo-hologram with it. And that's exactly what Robbie Tilton did with his Tony Stark-worthy setup.

Leap Motion To Begin Shipping In May
Leap Motion, the flash drive-sized controller that lets you manipulate your computer's interface with a multitude of precise hand gestures, will begin shipping to customers who pre-ordered the device on May 13. In a partnership with Best Buy, the Leap Motion controller will also hit physical store shelves in the U.S. starting May 19.
Since the company's founding last year, Leap Motion has advertised its product as a life-changing technological jump toward intuitive 3D software, while drawing in developers who will shortly offer a impressive suite of apps with functionality ranging from gaming and art to web browsing and 3D modeling. All these apps will be available in Leap Motion's new app store, Airspace, says Leap Motion VP of Product Marketing Mike Zagorsek.
Starting with the sci-fi-influenced idea that computing of the future will be done seamlessly with hand gestures alone (think Minority Report), CEO Mike Buckwald and CTO David Holz co-founded Leap Motion with the aim of delivering a truly futuristic product. They predict that this kind of interface could change the way we interact with technology forever, from kitchen screens at McDonald's to electronic music-creation tools for DJs, as ReadWrite editor in chief Dan Lyons wrote last December.

Create a Futuristic Translucent Interface in Photoshop
We go to the movies because they thrill us. We go there to escape reality and see things that just aren’t possible in real life. Movies can bring fiction into real life, such as the comic books that we read, and the superheroes that we have grown up with. Iron Man is no exception. We’ve all dreamed of flying around in a robot suit at super sonic speeds, all while shooting missiles, bullets and laser beams at our enemies. The Iron Man movies are full of stunning visuals, and the level of detail incorporated into each scene makes the experience more convincing.
