25 Little Email Marketing Experiments That Deliver BIG Results

Media_httpbloghubspot_hiabj

We're always on your case about all these inbound marketing best practices. We've published some pretty specific content about best practices for tons of stuff -- landing page optimization, blog post structure, marketing analytics -- but we've never really laid down the one definitive guide to crafting the perfect email.

Sup with that?

Well, we've never thrown out a definitively "perfect" email because it's pretty much impossible to say one thing is better than another in email marketing. I mean, everyone's audiences are so different! Not to mention the circumstances under which they opted in to your lists, and how you've segmented those lists since. There are just so many variables, it'd be ridiculous to assert that there's just one perfect email out there that all marketers should replicate.

Speedy neutrino mystery likely solved, relativity safe after all

Media_httpdvicecomass_tjejh

Those weird faster-than-light neutrinos that CERN thought they saw last month may have just gotten slowed down to a speed that'll keep them from completely destroying physics as we know it. In an ironic twist, the very theory that these neutrinos would have disproved may explain exactly what happened.

Scientists Reconstruct Video Clips From Brain Activity In Historic Experiment

Media_httpcachegawker_ceyjr

UC Berkeley scientists have developed a system to capture visual activity in their brains and reconstruct it as digital video clips. Eventually, this process will allow you to record and reconstruct your own dreams on a computer screen.

I just can't believe this is happening for real, but according to Professor Jack Gallant—UC Berkeley neuroscientist and coauthor of the research published today in the journal Current Biology—"this is a major leap toward reconstructing internal imagery. We are opening a window into the movies in our minds."

10 Signs That You Need A Social Media Detox

Media_httpcdnbitrebel_hdsqe

I think anyone who is into social media would agree with me that things are moving faster and faster. Whatever it is that we have to do, it has to be easy, fast, and it will hopefully increase our influence on the Internet. All the people who are stuck in their Lazy-Boy (La-Z-Boy) chair trying to justify the reasons why they shouldn’t be involved in social media will find out soon what they missed out on. This train is going no matter if they want it to or not, and if they’re not on it, they’ll have to take the second wave. They will have missed the inception of the whole idea, which will have made them miss the only time when you really could have made a change. However, if you’re like me, spending as much time as possible in social media, then you know there are signs and symptoms that will tell you exactly when you have gone too far.

Starbucks Social Experiment has an Unexpected Result

Media_httpfastcachega_btpze

What happens when a social experiment gets socially experimented on?

Jonathan Stark (no relation to Ironman) started a social experiment (which is not a PR stunt) wherein he put his Starbucks Coffee card up for grabs. He started it off with $100, and anyone can use it, and anyone can add money to it. The idea was "an experiment in social sharing of physical goods using digital currency," and the whole pay it forward concept. It was working rather well. Then some dude named Sam Odio decided to derail it. Kind of.
