Panasonic 4K tablet prototype hands on

The Panasonic liveblog was barely finished when we saw this beauty calling out to us from the show floor. This is Panasonic's 20" 4K tablet, running Windows 8. It's a prototype design right now, but seemed to be pretty well put together, and not something quickly knocked up for the show. Given that it's not a full release model, details on specifications are sparse, but we can tell you that as well as that truly jaw dropping display, there is a front facing camera (no details on resolution, but possibly 2-megapixel), and an Intel Core i5 running the show. Input / output wise there wasn't a lot going on, but there was micro-USB, microSD and at least WiFi. If you're thinking that that display is going to pretty much keep you tethered to a wall to keep it powered, then we were told that it will at least give you two hours of use on the go.

Panasonic's Big Beautiful New Plasma and LED TVs Are Here

Panasonic's latest Viera televisions. 16 Viera Plasmas up to 65-inches and 16 LED/LCDs all up to 65-inches. They include new models of some of Panasonic's best models.

The new lineup is lead by the new Smart Viera ZT60 series, and new VT60-series and ST60-series plasmas that all come equipped with many of Panasonic's totally overwrought personalization and Smart Viera features.

Speaking of which, the new ZT60 3D plasma flagship is lovely. That's available in both 60 and 65-inch models ad features a new "Studio Master Panel" that produces deep black reproduction. The VT60 is the follow up to last year's badass VT50 and comes in 55, 60, and 65-inch models. The bottom ST60 class doesn't have 3D and comes in 42, 50, 55, 60, and 65-inch model.

While its main TV business will involve plasma for some years to come, Panasonic has courted LCD TVs for a while but 2012 sees a number of firsts for the Japanese company: namely large screens and passive 3D.

Panasonic to launch Android smartphone in 2012

Panasonic has announced plans to release a 4.3-inch, ultra-slim Android handset next year, staring with the European market.

After a rough year of sales, Panasonic has revealed that it plans to release an Android-based smartphone in 2012. The handset will first be introduced in the the European market in March, followed by the US, and various Asian markets. This will be the first time the struggling electronics giant has released a cellphone outside of Japan.
