Ok so I thought it’s been a while – you guys need some more pure 8-bit design inspiration. We did a post a while back that you guys seemed to enjoy – and I have found a ton more awesome 8-bit stuff since then, just took a while to compile it into a list! 8-Bit Graphics are a part of all of us, no matter who you are, if you were even ALIVE in the 80′s and early 90′s – you played an 8-bit game. You loved 8-bit games. (I know I did.) so lets take a trip down memory lane and enjoy these modern designs that are inspired by the love we all share of the classic video game style that started it all. However, Technically – Yes, I realize that pixel art is not “true 8-bit” but I lump “pixely” art with 8bit since it feels similar, and inspired by 8-bit.

The art of 8-bit [video]
The 8-bit aesthetic surged in the 1980s and like many trends that emerged in the decade of big hair and leg warmers, it has made a comeback in recent years.
Nintendo popularized the pixelated style in the early 1980s with the release of the Nintendo Family Computer (later renamed Nintendo Entertainment System), the best-selling video game system up until the mid-1990s. Atari, Sega, and arcade game makers also played a major part in 8-bit history as challengers to Nintendo's dominance and innovators of 8-bit design.
With the introduction of 16-, 32-, and 64-bit systems in the early 1990s, the 8-bit style fell out of favor with serious gamers.
In recent years, nostalgia for retro gaming style has sparked the creation of 8-bit art. The PBS program "Off Book" explores the history 8-bit and its future as a bona fide form of entertainment.

40 Beautiful 8-Bit Artworks
8 Bit Art can refer to a style of synthesized electronic music called “chiptunes”, as well as a form of digital art called “pixel art”. Both chiptunes and Pixel Art can be more than 8-bits. Chiptunes, also referred to as “chip music”, are often made using sound hardware from old video game consoles or computer systems. Gameboys have become popular for live chip performers as they are very portable and can be played with ease on stage.
