It seems factors like the smartphone gaming revolution, the rise of social games, and shrinking video game sales do have an impact on Nintendo’s business strategy after all. Various Japanese media, i.e. the country’s biggest business daily The Nikkei, are reporting today that Nintendo is planning to offer in-game virtual item sales for 3DS titles.
Mario Kart 7 is coming to Nintendo 3DS, so that means another steering-wheel controller is on the way, too.
Remember that time when you thought, “Hey, I really love my Nintendo 3DS, but what it really needs is a steering wheel controller.”
No? Well, someone thought that at one point or another, because that’s exactly what the 3DS is getting.
Nintendo may be struggling to move a serious amount of 3DS handhelds, but this just might help. Hulu Plus is coming to the 3DS and Wii. According to a new release from the company, 3DS and Wii owners will soon have the ability to access even more of their favorite TV shows and movies: the Hulu Plus service will be added to both systems by the end of the year. Nintendo is also announcing new features being added to the Nintendo 3DS system, including the ability to record 3D videos, new musical artists coming to Nintendo Video and a new animated 3D video from DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. Additionally, Nintendo 3DS owners will soon see four inventive downloadable Nintendo-published games and applications delivered to the Nintendo eShop, a one-stop shop for entertainment options.
Nintendo and DreamWorks Animation SKG have entered into a partnership to deliver 3D content in the form of animated movies to the portable 3DS gaming system. To begin the joint venture, Dreamworks will be providing two animated shorts for the 3DS related to the upcoming Halloween holiday. Titled “Night of the Living Carrots”, the first features characters from the 2009 Dreamworks animated movie Monsters vs. Aliens and is available for download on the system as of today. The second clip is called “The Pig Who Cried Werewolf” which will be available later in the month and features the three German little pigs characters from the Shrek films.
