Hulu launches ad-free kids section on the web and on the PS3

Parents, Netflix isn’t the only game in town anymore for kids content: Hulu launched a dedicated kids section on its website as well as on the PS3 Thursday morning, underscoring yet again how important kids content is to online video. The new section is advertising-free, but all of the videos are only available to Hulu Plus subscribers.

Hulu Kids comes with shows from PBS, Nickelodeon and Lionsgate, and the content is sorted by age groups. The total number of shows listed on the section currently stands at 43. A spokesperson confirmed that Hulu is working on bringing Hulu Kids as a separate content section within the Hulu Plus app to additional devices.

Mobile gaming trumps console gaming for majority of players

Mobile gaming dominates most people's video game time but the industry still hasn't figured out how to most effectively monetize mobile.

No one working in the video game industry will claim that video game consoles are the future of the industry. That era is over. Where cloud gaming, mobile, and all PC gaming from social to browser will ultimately intersect with console games in the medium’s near future is unknown but today, we know this: mobile gaming is huge and growing. Major publishers like Electronic Arts aren’t making the biggest bank from it yet—mobile accounted for $284 million of EA’s total $4.14 billion in revenue—but mobile is growing swiftly.

PS3 Sales Could Overtake the Xbox 360 Soon

PS3 fans will be happy to know that PS3 sales are finally catching up to Microsoft’s XBox 360. Neither come close to Nintendo’s sales of 88.3 million Wiis, but hey, that console is for kids, so in my mind that doesn’t count.

Playstation 3D Display hits shelves November 13

We'd imagine come November 13th, the above will be the scene inside many a PS3 owner's house. That's when Sony's hot little 24-inch PlayStation 3D display will officially be available in the US, Canada, Europe and parts of Asia.
