Chromebook Pixel: Google's Retina, Touchscreen, MacBook Pro Counterpunch

Media_httpimggawkeras_aujxy

Until now, Chromebooks hadn't been much more than glorified netbooks; underpowered curios best suited for technological novices. The 13-inch, touchscreen, retina-displayed, full-powered Chromebook Pixel, though, appears to be anything but. And it should be enough to make Apple at least a little nervous. At least until you get to the price.

The anodized aluminum Pixel is purpose-built for working in the cloud. Rather than the standard 16:9 resolution, the Pixel is optimized for viewing Internet-based content with a 2560x1700 resolution on a 3:2 aspect ratio—which provides 18 percent more vertical space than the conventional 16:9 layout. That's 4.3 million pixels total, 239 per inch—appreciably more than the 13-inch retina MacBook Pro's 227 ppi. What's more, the display is Gorilla Glass and doubles as a capacitive touch screen.

25+ Amazing Pixel Art Examples

Media_httptutorialfre_qlbim

Pixel art is a design style mostly used in computer games from the 90′s. These days some designers use the same technique and inspiration from 20 years ago to create their artwork. Creating a pixel art piece means you will need to manually edit every single pixel used in your artwork. To give you an idea what pixel art is all about and to help you inspire, I created a list of some amazing pixel art pieces from different designers all over the world.

100+ Epic 8-Bit Design Inspirations – Illustration, Pixel Art, Web Design & More Retro Nostalgia

Media_httpwwwandysowa_fdxvh

Ok so I thought it’s been a while – you guys need some more pure 8-bit design inspiration. We did a post a while back that you guys seemed to enjoy – and I have found a ton more awesome 8-bit stuff since then, just took a while to compile it into a list! 8-Bit Graphics are a part of all of us, no matter who you are, if you were even ALIVE in the 80′s and early 90′s – you played an 8-bit game. You loved 8-bit games. (I know I did.) so lets take a trip down memory lane and enjoy these modern designs that are inspired by the love we all share of the classic video game style that started it all. However, Technically – Yes, I realize that pixel art is not “true 8-bit” but I lump “pixely” art with 8bit since it feels similar, and inspired by 8-bit.

A 50,000-Megapixel Camera Points and Shoots

Media_httpblogsdiscov_wdxfl

A camera that can see five times better than a person with 20/20 vision is here. The resolution is 50 gigapixels, or 50,000 megapixels. Cameras used by professionals reach the 40-megapixel mark, and a typical point-and-shoot might have eight or 10. The amount of information the gigapixel camera captures in a frame is nearly as much as the amount of data stored on a PC's hard drive -- all for one picture.

Insane 33 Megapixel 120fps Video Camera Captures 4 Billion Pixels Per Second

Media_httpimggawkeras_hmyfs

We've already brought you news that Japan's NHK was developing a mind-boggling 33MP video camera to capture footage for its new Super Hi-Vision format (7580x4320) that will one day supplant HDTV. But with a frame rate of 120fps, it means it's capturing some 4 billion pixels every second.

The boost in frame rate, from 60fps to 120fps, came in response to concerns that fast moving subjects might appear too blurry when shot at the traditional slower frame rate. Particularly when the footage was being watched on a giant display, like it's designed to be. So the frame rate was dramatically increased to ensure the imagery always remains crisp. And you thought your camera gobbled up the memory cards.

13 Modern 8-Bit Movie Posters: The Pixelated Reality

Media_httpcdnbitrebel_fksww

Most of you guys know that we are huge fans of creative posters here at Bit Rebels. We are always looking forward to great submissions that will take our breath away. We especially like posters that have a unique feel to them, whether it is cubism, minimalism or just awesomeism. The way we see it, a poster is not only going to tell you a story but also draw you into thinking about what you have seen and take you on a leap into an imaginary world where only you can picture the awesomeness you have just witnessed. A fresh poster is like a reboot of an imaginary world that we never saw until we stumbled on a creative journey through what can only be described as an alternate poster reality.
