Korean pop star Psy had the bar raised high for his first song since "Gangnam Style" and, believe it or not, he's breaking records again.
In the first 24 hours after its debut, his video for the new song "Gentleman" — which launched April 14 on YouTube — was watched 38 million times, according to new YouTube stats. Yeesh, that's a lot.
Can Psy pelvic thrust his way back to "Gangnam Style" success? That seems to be the strategy behind the South Korean singer's followup video, "Gentleman," which has gathered 32 million views on YouTube since Saturday. It once again features Psy dancing and wreaking havoc across South Korea, and thrives off of the singer's dance moves and goofy charisma. That blend of humor and catchy beats helped "Gangnam Style" become the first video to pass 1 billion views on YouTube, and played a major part in bringing K-Pop to the US.
New York Magazine recently broke down Korean Pop singer Psy's earnings from Gangnam Style - now the most popular YouTube video of all time. As you'd expect, he's making serious bank. The one figure that caught my eye was the magazine's breakdown of Psy's YouTube profits, which it estimated at $1.7 million, or to be precise with view numbers from today, $1,763,764.63.
