AT&T takes 200,000 pre-orders in 12 hours for iPhone 4S

If the early signs are any indication, it looks like Apple's iPhone 4S is going to be a big hit. AT&T said that it took a record 200,000 pre-orders in the first 12 hours after the device went on sale in the US early Friday. Sprint also said sales had "greatly exceeded" its expectations.

The disappointment voiced by many over the absence of an iPhone 5 at Tuesday’s Apple event appears not to have had much effect on initial sales of the phone that was unveiled – the iPhone 4S.
