Does the $20 million Terra Nova live up to its hype?
Produced by Steven Spielberg and packed with showy computer-generated dinosaurs, Terra Nova may well be fall's most hyped new drama. The two-hour pilot, which airs Monday night at 8 p.m. on Fox and is rumored to have cost $20 million, introduces the Shannons, a family toiling in a grim, dystopian Chicago in the year 2149.
NASA Picture Of the Day - Asteroid Caught Marching Across Tadpole Nebula
This infrared image from NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer, or WISE, showcases the Tadpole Nebula, a star-forming hub in the Auriga constellation about 12,000 light-years from Earth. As WISE scanned the sky, capturing this mosaic of stitched-together frames, it happened to catch an asteroid in our solar system passing by. The asteroid, called 1719 Jens, left tracks across the image. A second asteroid was also observed cruising by.
With Mango, can Windows Phone 7.5 compete?
As of this morning, Microsoft and its partner carriers have begun pushing the 7.5 Mango OS update (review) to the first wave of Windows Phones.
The question on everyone's lips isn't so much if the over 500 changes to Windows Phone OS will satisfy current Mango users; they will. It's a good release, on one that proves Windows Phone is maturing, however gradually. With it, Microsoft will continue to keep its current customers. After all, that set is already committed to the platform, at least for another year or so until their contracts expire.
Apple May Discontinue iPod Classic And iPod Shuffle
In addition to unveiling the iPhone 5 at its big press event October 4, Apple may also announce it is finally killing the iPod Classic and iPod Shuffle.
The rumor comes from TUAW, who cites an anonymous tipster close to the matter.
Apple will also announce a few minor improvements to the iPod Touch, including the long-rumored white model.

6 Habits of Highly Annoying Public Speakers
Watching public speaking -- at a corporate seminar, a presentation, a high school assembly -- is more often than not a miserable experience. Part of the problem is that a lot of what's being presented is bullshit, which already doesn't bode well, but lots of speakers make it even worse by trying to glaze the bullshit with decorative cake frosting and sprinkles, so to speak. They'll dress up a five-minute talk on the most obvious and meaningless statements about sexual harassment with annoying gimmicks and tricks to the point where everyone leaves the seminar determined to sexually harass somebody, just out of spite.
